Escalating operating rates for the production of Phosphorus Trichloride and surging demand from the importing countries like South Korea and the USA surged the product's prices in the Indian market. The conflict between Russia and Ukraine, broken supply chains, extremely high inflation, and rising interest rates contributed to the above surge. Increased demand also helps Indian specialist plant nutrition enterprises to increase sales. Increasing demand supported higher prices of Phosphorus Trichloride. Due to a lack of upstream feedstock Phosphate and Phosphate-based fertilizers, Indian producers are witnessing a considerable increase in worldwide Phosphorus Trichloride prices.

Phosphorus Trichloride prices were hovering around INR 162875.00/ton Phosphorous Trichloride Ex- Mumbai with a monthly escalation of 1.5% as recorded by Chem Analyst pricing team data. Surging product demand from downstream Organo-Pesticides, Dyes and Dyes Intermediates, and Fire-retardant plasticizers supported the market upward. The forthcoming monsoon season in India has raised the need for the product and is putting cost pressure on the prices.

The widening market of semiconductor chips also uses good quality Phosphorus Trichloride, which is crucial for controlling contamination and increasing integrated circuit yield throughout the entire circuit production process. Growing sales of agrochemicals are boosting the demand in the market since Phosphorus Trichloride is essential for synthesizing glyphosate, organophosphate insecticides, pesticides, and herbicides in large quantities.

Since Phosphorus Trichloride is used as a plasticizer for plastic products, several such developments are likely to exceed sales and support its price growth.

As per Chem Analyst, the sales of Phosphorus Trichloride are likely to increase outside the local market due to its expanding use as an intermediary in manufacturing several compounds, including triphenylphosphine and phosphites.
