Airgas, a subsidiary of Air Liquide, has expanded its footprint in the northeastern United States through the acquisition of Arco Welding Supply, a long-established distributor of industrial gases and welding equipment based in Massachusetts. This strategic move reinforces Airgas’s regional presence and enhances its ability to better serve customers across a key industrial corridor.
Founded more than 75 years ago, Arco Welding Supply has built a strong reputation as a trusted, family-owned business serving Malden and the wider Boston area. Its longstanding relationships with local customers and deep market knowledge make it a valuable addition to Airgas’s operations. As part of the acquisition, all 14 employees of Arco Welding Supply will transition to Airgas, ensuring continuity of service and preserving the expertise that has defined Arco’s success over decades.
Kahlub Kenyon, President of Airgas’s Northeast Region, emphasized that the integration of Arco Welding Supply aligns with the company’s broader growth strategy. He noted that the acquisition will not only strengthen Airgas’s market position in the Northeast but also improve its ability to meet evolving customer needs with enhanced product availability and service capabilities. By leveraging Arco’s established presence and combining it with Airgas’s extensive resources, the company aims to deliver greater value to its regional customer base.
This acquisition follows another recent expansion by Airgas in April, when it purchased the packaged gas and welding distribution business of Hust Brothers. That deal significantly boosted Airgas’s operations on the West Coast, particularly in California, by broadening its offerings in medical gases, welding supplies, and safety equipment.
