Aterian Uncovers New Copper Targets at Morocco's Agdz Project

Aterian identified multiple high-priority copper-silver targets at Morocco's Agdz project, strengthening exploration prospects and advancing drilling plans.

Aterian has announced the identification of several high-priority copper and silver exploration targets at its wholly owned Agdz project, located in Morocco's Eastern Anti-Atlas Copper Belt. The discoveries follow an independent interpretation of recently completed high-resolution ground magnetic survey data, which has significantly improved the company's understanding of the project's geological framework and mineralisation potential.

According to Aterian, the interpretation has mapped the structural architecture that could control copper and silver mineralisation across the project area. The study outlined several priority exploration zones and highlighted geological characteristics that closely resemble those of the nearby Bou Skour polymetallic mining district. This similarity provides additional confidence in the company's exploration strategy and supports the possibility that Agdz could host a sizeable copper-silver mineralised system.

Executive Chairperson Charles Bray stated that the latest findings represent an important milestone for the Agdz project. He noted that the work has progressed beyond identifying magnetic anomalies by providing a clearer picture of the structural controls associated with mineral deposits. The priority targets are linked to kilometre-scale fault corridors, hydrothermal alteration zones, existing copper occurrences, and historical assay results of up to 3.47% copper and 136 grams per tonne of silver.

Bray added that the structural resemblance between Agdz and the approximately 53-million-tonne Bou Skour deposit further validates Aterian's exploration model. The company also expanded the survey coverage by about 140%, increasing the project's exploration footprint and improving opportunities to identify additional mineralised zones.

To refine its exploration strategy, Aterian is integrating the magnetic survey interpretation with hyperspectral imaging, historical exploration records, and Lithosquare's artificial intelligence-assisted targeting technology. This combined approach aims to prioritise the most promising exploration areas before drilling begins.

Field activities have already commenced, with trenching currently underway across selected targets. The company expects to receive initial trenching results before the end of the third quarter of the year. These results will help determine the most prospective zones for future drilling.

Following the completion of hyperspectral data integration, Aterian plans to launch a comprehensive exploration programme. Planned activities include detailed structural geological mapping, systematic rock geochemical sampling, induced polarization (IP) and resistivity geophysical surveys, additional trenching, and final drill target selection using integrated geological, geophysical, and AI-supported datasets.

The company believes Agdz is becoming an increasingly important asset within its Moroccan copper portfolio and expects upcoming exploration milestones to enhance the project's long-term value and development potential.

Impact on Chemanalyst Chemical Commodity Prices

The announcement is unlikely to influence prices of chemical commodities tracked by ChemAnalyst in the near term because Agdz remains an early-stage exploration project without confirmed commercial production. Copper-related chemicals and downstream products, including copper cathodes, copper wire rods, and electrical-grade materials, will continue to be driven by existing mine output, smelter activity, and global demand. Silver markets will also remain unaffected in the short term. If Aterian successfully defines economically recoverable reserves and advances the project into production, long-term copper supply could improve, potentially easing price pressures on copper-based industrial materials and related manufacturing value chains.
