Avantium and Logoplaste partner under a capacity reservation deal for releaf®, advancing renewable, high-performance packaging innovation across global markets.

Avantium N.V., a leading innovator in renewable and circular polymer materials, has announced the signing of a capacity reservation agreement with Logoplaste Consultores Técnicos, SA, a renowned global packaging manufacturer. The agreement focuses on Avantium’s plant-based and recyclable polymer, PEF (polyethylene furanoate), marketed under the brand name releaf®. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in advancing sustainable and high-performance packaging solutions.

Avantium and Logoplaste have been working together as part of The Bottle Collective, a consortium committed to developing recyclable, fiber-based bottle solutions. The new capacity reservation agreement strengthens their strategic partnership and expands their joint focus beyond fiber-based packaging into Logoplaste’s core business areas, including high-performance bottles for beverages, food, pharmaceuticals, home care, and personal care products.

Logoplaste has earned global recognition for its expertise in injection molding and blow molding technologies, delivering packaging solutions that combine durability, lightweight design, and superior barrier performance. The company’s strong sustainability agenda aligns with Avantium’s pioneering approach in developing releaf®, a next-generation, bio-based polymer designed to support circular economy principles without compromising on performance.

Both companies have already achieved notable progress within the Bottle Collective, a collaboration that includes well-known consumer brands such as Diageo, Opella (formerly Sanofi), and Haleon. Their joint efforts have contributed to breakthroughs in recyclable and fiber-based packaging materials. With this new agreement, Logoplaste aims to accelerate its innovation pipeline and leverage releaf® for broader applications beyond fiber bottles—enabling the design of advanced packaging solutions with enhanced functionality and recyclability.

Under the terms of the capacity reservation agreement, Logoplaste secures future supply volumes of releaf® from plants licensed to use Avantium’s proprietary YXY® Technology—the core process for producing releaf®. This step ensures a stable and scalable supply chain for future product development and commercialization. The agreement also anticipates the growing market demand for releaf® as validation and adoption progress across industries.

Commenting on the collaboration, Paulo Correia, Chief Technology Officer at Logoplaste, said: “This agreement highlights our shared dedication to sustainable innovation. By reserving future volumes of Avantium’s releaf®, we can fast-track the development of packaging with exceptional barrier properties, helping our customers achieve their circularity and performance goals across multiple applications.”

Bineke Posthumus, Director of Business Development at Avantium, added: “We are thrilled to expand our strategic partnership with Logoplaste. This agreement reflects the growing momentum of releaf® as a critical material for next-generation packaging. Together, we’re setting the stage for scalable, renewable, and high-performance packaging solutions.”

Through this partnership, Avantium and Logoplaste are poised to drive a transformative shift in packaging innovation—combining renewable materials, recyclability, and performance to meet the future demands of global industries.
