Axens finalizes full acquisition of Eurecat, reinforcing global leadership in catalyst circularity, ex situ activation, recycling, and sustainable catalyst lifecycle services.
Axens has announced the successful completion of its acquisition of 100% of Eurecat, following the receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals. With this transaction finalized, Axens becomes the sole owner of Eurecat, a globally recognized leader in catalyst services. The acquisition represents a key milestone in Axens’ strategic roadmap, reinforcing its ambition to strengthen catalyst circularity, expand ex situ activation capabilities, and accelerate sustainable metals reuse on a worldwide scale.
Eurecat is widely regarded as a reference player in the field of catalyst lifecycle management. The company specializes in the regeneration, rejuvenation, and recycling of spent catalysts, as well as the ex situ activation of fresh catalysts, helping customers improve catalyst performance while significantly reducing waste and resource consumption. In addition, Eurecat provides a comprehensive range of reactor services, including catalyst loading and unloading, supporting safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.
Operating across the refining, biofuels, chemicals, and gas markets, Eurecat delivers services that span the full catalyst life cycle, from initial activation to end-of-life recovery. Its strong industrial footprint includes facilities located in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, enabling the company to serve customers globally while maintaining proximity to key industrial hubs. This extensive presence ensures operational flexibility, rapid response capabilities, and consistent service quality across regions.
Despite the change in ownership, Eurecat will continue to operate as an independent company. It will remain fully committed to serving the entire catalyst market, working with all operators and all catalyst manufacturers without restriction. Crucially, all existing confidentiality measures covering business, technical, and commercial information will remain firmly in place. These safeguards ensure continuity, neutrality, and trust for Eurecat’s broad customer base.
Under Axens’ sole ownership, Eurecat’s strategic direction and operating model will remain unchanged. Axens intends to build on Eurecat’s established expertise rather than alter its market positioning. The focus will remain on further developing advanced catalyst circularity solutions, including regeneration, rejuvenation, recycling, and ex situ activation technologies. These services are designed to deliver high added value to customers while contributing to more sustainable industrial practices.
Through this acquisition, Axens aims to enhance its ability to support the industry’s transition toward lower environmental impact catalyst management. By extending catalyst life, recovering valuable metals, and reducing waste generation, the combined strengths of Axens and Eurecat will help customers improve both economic performance and sustainability outcomes. The transaction underscores Axens’ long-term commitment to innovation, circular economy principles, and responsible growth across global process industries.
