Bartek Ingredients Inc., a significant producer of Malic acid, Maleic Anhydride, and Fumaric Acid, has decided to open a new facility to enhance its Malic Acid and Fumaric Acid production. This Canada-based firm has started constructing an intricate and vertically aligned facility for boosting Malic Acid manufacturing. As per the company's anticipations, the project will be complete by Quarter 4 of 2023. The goal of this company is to affix its position as the most prominent Food-Grade Malic Acid and Fumaric Acid producer across the globe.
The company foresaw the upcoming market expansion of Malic and Fumaric Acid and hence planned the capacity enhancement of its production to reciprocate with the market growth in the coming years. The overall expense of this project is estimated to be around USD 160 million, to double the capacity. WSP Global, a well-known engineering consulting firm itself, would be handling the entire construction and design of the project.
The Global market for Malic Acid is estimated to reach at USD 258 million by 2026, and the market for Fumaric Acid would be surging over USD 650 million in the next 4 years. Considering the growth in both these products market, it is a significant step by Bartek to cater to the overall demand. This capacity enhancement by Bartek would not only reciprocate the demand but would also keep the control over fuelling prices of these commodities.
The offtake of Malic Acid has been growing due to the escalated demand from the Food and Beverage industry as it amplifies the fruit flavours and stabilizes pH levels in fruit preparations. It finds its usage mainly in bakeries and confectionaries. Furthermore, Fumaric Acid is primarily used to stabilize pH and provide jelly textures to jams and deserts; hence, the need for Fumaric Acid has also been rising across the globe.
