BASF has significantly expanded its production capacity for low-VOC and low-CO2 dispersions at its Dilovasi facility in Türkiye to meet surging demand across the region.
Global chemical giant BASF has inaugurated a new, state-of-the-art production line at its Dilovasi site in Türkiye, marking a significant strategic investment to enhance its capacity and product offering for the architectural coatings and construction materials industries. The expansion, which is immediately operational, will substantially increase the site's manufacturing capability, positioning BASF to better serve the burgeoning demand for innovative dispersions across Türkiye, the Middle East, and Northwest Africa.
The investment is a dual-pronged effort, aimed at both boosting supply reliability and championing environmental sustainability. The new line is dedicated to producing cutting-edge, low-VOC (volatile organic compound) dispersions. These products are crucial for improving indoor air quality in modern buildings, addressing a key need driven by evolving customer and regulatory demands in the regional market.
Crucially, the Dilovasi facility is also embracing advanced sustainability practices. The site has implemented the Mass Balance approach, which allows BASF to manufacture dispersions with a significantly reduced carbon footprint compared to traditional methods. Further underscoring this commitment, the entire Dilovasi facility will now operate exclusively on green electricity.
Dr. Jörg Niebergall, Senior Vice President of Dispersions Europe, emphasized the strategic importance of the move. “With the start up of the new production line in Dilovasi, we are well positioned to meet our customers’ growing demand for innovative dispersions in Türkiye, the Middle East, and Northwest Africa,” stated Dr. Niebergall. “This expansion is a valuable addition to our regional production network, strengthening our resilience and capability to supply high-quality dispersions to all our customers.”
He highlighted BASF's ambitious sustainability targets, adding, “Our ability to deliver strongly CO2-reduced products from our site in Dilovasi clearly shows our ambition to be the preferred chemical company to enable our customers’ green transformation.”
The Dilovasi site, which boasts a 55-year history and is strategically located near Istanbul, serves as a pivotal hub for BASF’s regional operations. This expansion is designed to enhance the robustness of BASF’s supply chain, ensuring a stable and secure source of high-quality dispersions for its expanding customer base in the broader region.
Bahadir Bayraktar, Site Manager of Dilovasi, affirmed the operational benefits of the new technology. “Our key objectives are to improve our supply reliability, increase product volume, and provide flexibility within the production lines,” Bayraktar said.
The capacity expansion and the introduction of advanced, sustainable products are fully aligned with BASF’s broader global sustainability objectives.
