Blue Star Helium stabilizes production at Colorado’s Pinon Canyon plant, expands deliveries, and prepares capacity growth through plant upgrades and new wells.

Blue Star Helium has announced that helium production at its Pinon Canyon processing plant in Las Animas County, Colorado, has reached a stable operating level, marking an important operational milestone for the company. The achievement comes as the company continues to advance its commercial production strategy and strengthen its position in the growing helium market.

Following the stabilization of production, Blue Star successfully completed the delivery of its second helium tube trailer under a short-term supply agreement with an undisclosed U.S.-based industrial gas company. This follows the first commercial shipment made earlier in July, demonstrating the company's ability to maintain consistent product deliveries. To support ongoing sales, regular trailer exchange operations have now been established. Newly delivered empty trailers are immediately connected and begin filling upon arrival, ensuring uninterrupted logistics and efficient product dispatch.

Although the plant has reached stable production, Blue Star expects helium output to increase further in the coming months. The company plans to gradually move toward the facility's full design capacity by implementing several operational improvements. These include debottlenecking key processing units, enhancing the gas gathering system, and bringing additional production wells online to increase feed gas supply.

As part of its long-term development strategy, Blue Star is also assessing the feasibility of deepening selected existing wells to access additional helium-bearing zones. In parallel, the company intends to drill three new production wells that will be connected directly to the Pinon Canyon processing facility, subject to obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals. These initiatives are expected to improve production volumes and support future expansion.

The Pinon Canyon plant serves as the processing hub for the Galactica Project, a joint venture equally owned by Blue Star Helium and Helium One Global, with each company holding a 50% interest. The project represents a significant step in developing domestic helium resources in the United States amid increasing global demand and supply constraints.

Commenting on the progress, Helium One Chief Executive Officer Lorna Blaisse stated that achieving stable production is a significant accomplishment. She noted that consistent helium sales now provide the foundation for generating cash flow while supporting the project's transition into sustained commercial operations.

Earlier in July, Blue Star completed the commissioning and optimization phase of the Pinon Canyon plant, confirming that production systems were functioning as intended. The company also celebrated the successful sale and dispatch of its first helium production trailer from the facility. With production stabilized and expansion plans underway, Blue Star Helium is well positioned to strengthen its commercial operations and increase helium supply to industrial customers across the U.S.

Impact on Product and Chemical Commodity Prices

Stable helium production at Blue Star Helium’s Pinon Canyon plant is expected to improve the availability of helium in the U.S. market, benefiting industries such as semiconductors, healthcare, aerospace, electronics, welding, and scientific research that rely on a dependable helium supply. As production gradually increases through plant optimization and new well development, supply tightness could ease, reducing the risk of disruptions. For chemical commodities tracked by ChemAnalyst, the impact is likely to be limited but slightly bearish for helium prices over the medium term, particularly in North America, as higher domestic production may improve supply security and moderate price volatility.
