Borealis appoints IMCD as Bormed distributor across the Americas, enhancing access to healthcare-grade polyolefins and technical support.
Borealis, a global leader in advanced and sustainable polyolefin solutions, has announced the appointment of IMCD as its exclusive distribution partner for the Bormed portfolio across the Americas, effective August 1, 2025. This strategic partnership will cover the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, aiming to expand Borealis’ reach and enhance customer access to its healthcare-grade polyolefins throughout these vital regions.
The Bormed product line consists of specialized polyethylene and polypropylene grades designed specifically for healthcare applications, including medical devices, pharmaceutical packaging, and diagnostic tools. These high-performance materials are engineered to meet the strict requirements of the healthcare industry, offering consistent quality, reliability, and safety. In addition to offering excellent processing properties—particularly for injection molding—these materials also support other critical manufacturing technologies used in the medical field.
Central to the Bormed brand is the Bormed Concept, built upon three foundational principles: service, commitment, and conformance. These pillars ensure that the materials consistently meet demanding regulatory standards while providing long-term supply security and technical support.
Paulo Cavacas, Head of Marketing Advanced Products at Borealis, commented on the significance of this expansion:
“Extending our partnership with IMCD into the Americas is a key step in our We4Customers strategy. It strengthens our presence in the region and ensures our Bormed portfolio is supported by a distributor with deep industry knowledge and a strong logistical network.”
This new agreement builds upon the existing collaboration between Borealis and IMCD, which began in 2021 when IMCD became the distributor of Bormed products across most European markets. The success of that partnership laid the groundwork for its extension into the American continent, reflecting both companies’ shared commitment to serving the global healthcare industry with top-quality materials and dependable service.
Marc Gauthier, IMCD’s Global Principal Manager, Medical, added:
“We’re honored to expand our relationship with Borealis and bring the Bormed portfolio to customers across the Americas. This collaboration enables us to offer not only premium-grade materials but also localized technical support and regulatory guidance tailored to the needs of the healthcare industry.”
With this expanded partnership, Borealis and IMCD aim to strengthen the regional supply chain and ensure that manufacturers throughout the Americas can access the high-quality healthcare materials they need to innovate, comply, and succeed in a complex, regulated environment.
