Brazilian petrochemical companies Braskem and Indorama Ventures IOD – Oxiteno have come together in a strategic partnership with a shared commitment to supporting the circular economy and addressing the critical issue of climate change. This collaboration is focused on the supply of bio-attributed ethylene derived from renewable sources.

The bio-attributed ethylene supplied, certified by ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification), will play a pivotal role in Oxiteno's efforts to develop new and sustainable solutions. It represents a significant step forward in achieving the goals of sustainability and environmental responsibility.

What sets this raw material apart is that it marks Braskem's pioneering production of the first bio-attributed chemical product using the certified mass balance approach. This innovative concept involves the co-processing of traditional carbon sources with recycled or renewable components to create chemical solutions with a distinct sustainability attribute.

Marlisa Reche, the Chemicals – Olefins and Aromatics Business Director at Braskem, highlights the alignment of sustainability initiatives between the two companies. She underscores the significance of this partnership in their growth strategies, recognizing it as a pivotal step for the entire petrochemical industry as it strives for a more sustainable future. Andrea Campos Soares, the Senior Vice President of Business, Marketing, and Innovation at Oxiteno, draws attention to the strong connection between innovation and sustainability objectives. This partnership is in perfect alignment with Oxiteno's overarching goals of decarbonization and promoting eco-efficiency throughout its operations.

The collaboration between Braskem and Oxiteno is a clear demonstration of their commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. By utilizing bio-attributed ethylene derived from renewable sources, certified for its sustainability and carbon footprint, the companies are not only taking responsibility for their environmental impact but also setting an example for their industry and the wider business world.

This innovative approach to producing bio-attributed ethylene is a testament to the potential for transformation within the petrochemical sector. By incorporating sustainable practices and actively seeking solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on fossil fuels, Braskem and Oxiteno are pioneering a more responsible and environmentally friendly path forward.

The partnership between these two industry leaders is not merely a business arrangement: it's a significant step toward a sustainable future. Their dedication to addressing climate change and promoting the circular economy showcases their commitment to making a positive impact on the world. This endeavor will undoubtedly inspire other companies to follow suit and reimagine their practices and products in a way that benefits not only their bottom line but also the planet. In this era of heightened environmental awareness, partnerships like this one between Braskem and Oxiteno exemplify the potential for innovation and collaboration to drive positive change in the corporate world.
