Bronopol prices moved higher during June as producers balanced firm export commitments with limited domestic availability. Monsoon-related transportation disruptions slowed deliveries across several regions, while manufacturers prioritized confirmed overseas orders, reducing spot supplies in the local market. As a result, domestic buyers increased procurement to secure inventories before potential shipment delays, allowing suppliers to maintain firmer offers throughout the month.
Bronopol demand remained healthy across key downstream sectors. The personal care and cosmetics industry continued to support consumption as manufacturers maintained production of preservative-based formulations ahead of the monsoon season. Export inquiries also remained robust, with overseas buyers preferring Indian-origin Bronopol to diversify sourcing. Bronopol demand from industrial water treatment applications remained stable, providing additional support to overall market fundamentals.
Feedstock of Bronopol trends were mixed during June. Nitromethane prices increased by 9.5%, raising production costs and supporting higher Bronopol offers. In contrast, formaldehyde prices declined by 5.8% as feedstock methanol weakened sharply following easing geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran after the June memorandum of understanding, which improved expectations for global methanol supply. Bromine prices also fell by 12.1% as higher operating rates replenished market supplies while downstream buyers limited purchases to essential requirements, resulting in weaker cost support.
Looking ahead, the Bronopol market is expected to remain balanced with limited upside. Weak cost support from lower formaldehyde and bromine prices may restrain further gains, while heavy monsoon rainfall could continue disrupting logistics, labor availability, and manufacturing activity across several regions. Bronopol export demand may also soften if economic slowdowns due to war remain in major overseas markets reduce procurement.
Another key factor will be renewed geopolitical uncertainty following the U.S. strikes on Iran in early July. Any escalation in Middle East tensions could disrupt shipping routes, increase freight and insurance costs, and delay raw material imports, temporarily tightening supply. While these risks may provide intermittent price support, overall market direction will continue to depend on feedstock movements, export demand, and domestic procurement trends.
