CARBIOS, a leader in developing biological technologies to reinvent the life cycle of plastics and textiles, has signed its first multi-year biorecycled PET sales contracts with two global cosmetics giants: L’Oréal and L’Occitane en Provence. The agreements secure the supply of biorecycled PET (r-PET) from CARBIOS’s upcoming commercial plant in Longlaville, France.

These contracts confirm strong demand among top brands for high-quality recycled and recyclable PET produced through enzymatic recycling. This innovative process helps companies meet their circularity goals while maintaining strict packaging standards. With these deals, CARBIOS has advanced its strategic plan and met its target of signing initial contracts by the first half of 2025, as previously announced.

Vincent Kamel, CEO of CARBIOS, called the contracts “a key milestone” for the company. He said the agreements with two demanding industry leaders validate both the market need and CARBIOS’s technology. “Today, we have strong momentum to achieve our sales and supply targets,” Kamel added. “This makes us confident we will soon sign additional contracts for our Longlaville facility. Our commitment to the success of our future plant is stronger than ever.”

L’Oréal’s Jacques Playe, director of development and packaging, praised the partnership as a sign of the cosmetics company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. “This contract with CARBIOS underlines our commitment to working with innovative players in PET recycling to create a circular economy,” Playe said. “We congratulate CARBIOS on this advancement toward industrial scale for their enzymatic recycling solution, which represents a key milestone for the packaging industry.”
