CEAT introduces SecuraDrive CIRCL, India’s first passenger car tyre with up to 90% bio-based content, combining sustainability, safety, and performance.

CEAT Limited, one of India’s leading tyre manufacturers, has taken a pioneering step towards sustainability with the launch of its latest innovation – SecuraDrive CIRCL, the country’s first passenger car tyre made predominantly from renewable materials. The company officially unveiled this new product, which marks a significant milestone in the Indian automotive and tyre industry’s journey towards eco-friendly mobility solutions.

The SecuraDrive CIRCL has been developed at CEAT’s cutting-edge global research and development centre located in Halol, Gujarat. This advanced facility played a crucial role in conceptualising, designing, and testing the new tyre to ensure it meets the performance expectations of modern-day passenger vehicles, while also aligning with global sustainability goals.

The newly launched tyre is available in two distinct variants – one comprising 50% bio-based content and another with a groundbreaking 90% bio-based composition. The latter, in particular, represents a first for India, setting a benchmark for sustainable tyre manufacturing in the country.

What makes the SecuraDrive CIRCL unique is its material composition. CEAT has employed an innovative unified biopolymer inner liner, which significantly reduces emissions generated during the manufacturing process. Additionally, the company has introduced a glycerol-based accelerator in place of petroleum-derived chemical compounds, thereby cutting down the reliance on fossil fuel-based inputs. In another notable development, CEAT has utilised an anti-static silica conductive solution to replace traditional carbon black. This change ensures the tyre maintains essential electrical conductivity, enhancing passenger safety, while simultaneously reducing the environmental footprint.

According to the company, these innovations not only reduce the dependence on non-renewable raw materials but also help cut emissions, contributing to cleaner and greener production methods. The SecuraDrive CIRCL reflects CEAT’s long-term commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices and its efforts to align with the automotive industry’s increasing focus on reducing carbon intensity.

CEAT has also ensured that these tyres are not just environmentally responsible but also meet customer expectations in terms of performance, safety, and durability. The new tyre is designed to provide optimum road grip, efficient handling, and long-lasting wear resistance, thereby ensuring that customers don’t have to compromise on quality while making a sustainable choice.

The SecuraDrive CIRCL tyres will be commercially available from September 2025 across CEAT’s premium retail outlets and authorised dealerships in key markets across India. Pricing has been announced at Rs 8,999 for the 50% bio-based variant, while the 90% sustainable model will retail at Rs 12,999.

With this launch, CEAT has become the first tyre brand in India to offer a near fully bio-based passenger car tyre, reinforcing its position as an industry innovator and a frontrunner in advancing environmentally friendly solutions for Indian roads.
