China Adipic Acid Prices Rise in Late January 2026 on Cost Pressure and Pre Holiday-Stocking

The domestic adipic acid prices in China were up by 3.1% in the week ending 23 January 2026, with prices pushed up by higher costs of feedstock, minor supply tightening due to plant maintenance, as well as active pre-Spring Festival stocking from nylon and polyurethane producers.

The supply side of adipic acid has become slightly tighter during the course of the week, and this has provided a clear basis for the price increase. The feedstock markets have become slightly stronger—with a x.xx rise in the price of cyclohexanone and a x.xx rise in the price of benzene. These increases were duly passed on to the market, and the Adipic acid prices moved upward without any resistance, confirming the cost push effect as the major driver of the x.xx increase.

In addition, Adipic acid supply availability also decreased slightly due to planned maintenance at Ordos Shenma Jianyuan Chemical, which reduced supply at a time when demand was starting to increase.
