China HEMA Market Falls 9.01% in June Amid Export Slowdown and Comfortable Supply

Nicholas Sparks 27-Jul-2026
China's 2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate (HEMA) market weakened sharply during June 2026 as comfortable domestic supply, rising coastal inventories, and subdued downstream procurement continued to pressure export prices. Sellers lowered FOB offers throughout the month amid weaker buying interest from both domestic and overseas markets, while healthy plant operating rates ensured ample product availability. Demand from coatings, UV-curable resins, adhesives, inks, and polymer modifiers softened as buyers limited purchases to immediate production needs and relied on existing inventories. Although medical and specialty polymer applications remained comparatively stable, their consumption was insufficient to offset broader market weakness. Market participants are now turning their attention to July, when further inventory pressure and seasonal demand weakness are expected to keep prices under pressure. However, any improvement in export enquiries, year-end restocking, or higher feedstock and logistics costs could gradually stabilize the 2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate market later in the third quarter.

China&#**;s *-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate (HEMA) market declined significantly during June **** as weaker downstream demand, rising inventories, and comfortable domestic supply pushed export prices lower. *-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate FOB Qingdao prices fell by *.*** over the month as suppliers progressively reduced offers to stimulate buying activity. While June was characterized by persistent demand weakness, market participants have increasingly shifted their attention toward July, when seasonal consumption trends and export demand will determine whether prices continue to soften.

Demand for *-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate remained weak across most downstream industries throughout June and into early July. The coatings sector, particularly UV-curable coatings and UV-curable resins, recorded lower procurement as seasonal construction activity slowed and manufacturers limited production. Adhesive producers, polymer modifier manufacturers, and printing ink companies also maintained cautious purchasing strategies, relying on comfortable inventories rather than increasing spot buying. In contrast, medical and specialty polymer applications, including contact...
