China Potassium Carbonate Drops in December 2025 as Heavy Oversupply Meets Weak Buying

Potassium carbonate prices in China fell by around 3% in December 2025, pressured by abundant supply and muted downstream demand. Weak construction activity and limited export interest kept buying subdued, reinforcing a soft and competitive market environment.

The supply of potassium carbonate in China continued to be ample throughout December, and the price kept on moving downward. Domestic production was steady, and the producers had adequate raw materials and no obvious disturbance.

Despite some mild inflation in prices of potassium chloride, most Potassium Carbonate plants still consumed the cheaper inventories accumulated earlier, which hindered any increase in production costs. Imported port inventories of potash also held at a considerably higher level of x.x to x.xx million tons, thereby maintaining the unfettered environment of ample Potassium Carbonate supply in the market.

The general manufacturing mood also edged up slightly, with China’s General Manufacturing PMI climbing to xx.x, pointing to a slight expansion and indicating stable operating conditions within chemicals plants.
