Clariant, a global specialty chemical company emphasizing sustainability, has officially announced a strategic joint venture with FUHUA, aimed at developing advanced non-halogenated flame retardants. This new initiative, pending customary regulatory approvals, focuses on the creation of next-generation phosphorus-based flame retardants designed to serve multiple industries, including building and construction, automotive, and the electrical and electronics sectors. The partnership directly addresses increasing technical demands and tightening regulatory requirements in these industries, where sustainable and high-performing flame retardant solutions are becoming essential.
The joint venture agreement emerges from the ongoing innovation-driven collaboration between Clariant and FUHUA. FUHUA is a well-established leader in integrated chemical manufacturing, and this strategic cooperation combines the strengths of both organizations. The joint venture builds on Clariant’s growing presence in China. The company recently celebrated a milestone investment of CHF 100 million in its Daya Bay facility with a second production line for Exolit™ OP flame retardants on November 5th. In addition, Clariant expanded its capabilities with the opening of a second production line for the Nylostab S-EED stabilizer in Cangzhou on November 3rd, further strengthening its manufacturing footprint in the region. These developments demonstrate Clariant’s strategic focus on innovation, sustainability, and proactive regulatory compliance.
