Cosentino unveils Éclos, a silica-free, recycled mineral surface using Inlayr technology, combining innovation, safety, sustainability, and 3D design realism.

Cosentino, a world-renowned leader in the design and manufacture of innovative surfaces for architecture and design, has announced the global launch of its latest creation — Éclos®, an advanced mineral surface brand designed for kitchen and bathroom countertops. This launch signifies a major breakthrough in the global surfacing industry, introducing an entirely new category called the “Inlayered Mineral Surface”, developed using Cosentino’s proprietary Inlayr® technology.

Éclos® offers exceptional durability, mechanical strength, and a distinctive 3D integrated design, along with a crystalline silica-free composition. In addition, the product incorporates over 50% recycled materials, reinforcing Cosentino’s strong commitment to sustainability and workplace safety. According to Pilar Cosentino, CEO of Cosentino Group, the company has always aimed to lead innovation rather than follow trends. She noted that Éclos® marks another transformative moment for the company and the wider market, much like earlier milestones achieved with Silestone®, Dekton®, and Hybriq+® technology.

Just as Silestone® revolutionized quartz surfaces in 1990 and Dekton® redefined architectural materials in 2013, Éclos® sets a new benchmark for surface design and performance. The product’s development required more than 28,000 hours of research and 1,500 hours of testing, with the participation of 50 specialized researchers from Cosentino’s R&D and product innovation teams.

At the core of Éclos® is Inlayr® technology, an advanced manufacturing process based on a layered design system. Using cutting-edge robotics and innovative decorative techniques, this technology produces surfaces with remarkable three-dimensional depth and lifelike patterns that extend seamlessly through the edges. The result is a visually rich surface with natural veins, realistic texture, and unmatched consistency, redefining the standards of aesthetic design in the surfacing industry.

Éclos® also features a groundbreaking formulation that is completely free of crystalline silica, responding to increasing industry concerns over worker safety. Its initial collection, set for a global rollout soon, uses at least 50% recycled materials, with certain colors incorporating nearly 90% recycled content. This innovation highlights Cosentino’s ongoing commitment to advancing a circular economy and promoting environmentally responsible production practices.

The composition of Éclos® not only enhances its sustainability but also provides greater flexibility, ductility, and impact resistance, simplifying fabrication and installation for professionals. Moreover, its robust structure offers high heat resistance, capable of withstanding temperatures up to 220°C (428°F), allowing direct contact with hot cookware — making it an ideal material for modern kitchen applications.

In an era shaped by rising environmental awareness, trade disputes, and growing restrictions on silica-based materials, Cosentino once again takes the lead in driving transformation across the global surfacing sector. With the countertop market expected to grow by 3% annually through 2028 — reaching $50 billion and 650 million square meters — Éclos® positions itself as a sustainable, safe, and high-performance alternative that anticipates the future of design and innovation worldwide.
