Cosmo Films boosts U.S. presence with new high-speed slitter to enhance delivery speed, flexibility, and support growing packaging demand.
Cosmo Films Inc. USA, a subsidiary of Cosmo First Limited, has expanded its operations in North America through the installation of a cutting-edge 120-inch wide high-speed Slitter Rewinder, capable of processing film at an impressive 3000 feet per minute. This strategic move marks a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to enhance its service capabilities and meet the increasing demand for flexible packaging solutions across the region. The advanced slitting machine has been installed at Cosmo’s Carol Stream Warehouse in Chicago, reinforcing the company’s commitment to improving delivery timelines and optimizing supply chain efficiency.
With the deployment of this state-of-the-art equipment, Cosmo Films can now promise delivery of orders within 10 to 15 days from the order date. This quick turnaround is expected to help customers manage inventory more efficiently, reduce the burden of warehousing costs, and gain better control over their production schedules. The company’s ability to offer just-in-time deliveries enhances operational flexibility for its clients across various sectors.
This investment arrives at a pivotal time for the North American flexible packaging market, which is forecasted to grow substantially—from USD 84.9 billion in 2025 to USD 123.07 billion by 2034. This growth is primarily driven by rising demand for lightweight, customizable, and sustainable packaging, especially within the food, personal care, and pharmaceutical industries.
Commenting on the development, Mr. Kulbhushan Malik, Global Business Head at Cosmo Films, emphasized the importance of the U.S. market in the company’s global strategy. “The U.S. continues to be a key focus area for us, and this new investment supports our aim of building a stronger local presence. It brings us closer to our customers, enhances our responsiveness, and adds value through a smarter and more robust supply chain,” Malik noted.
The newly installed Slitter Rewinder boasts modern capabilities and is compatible with a wide variety of substrates, including BOPP, CPP, BOPET, and PETG films. It delivers high-speed operation with pinpoint accuracy, making it ideal for producing sophisticated and sustainable packaging formats such as sachets, pouches, and wraps. These formats are in high demand in North America's booming food, beverage, and healthcare packaging sectors.
Mr. Sandeep Dutta, President of Cosmo Films North America, further highlighted the company's track record in the U.S. market. “We’ve consistently provided quality products and technical expertise to our American partners. Our willingness to co-develop new films in response to changing end-use requirements sets us apart. This new installation enables us to respond in real time to evolving packaging needs, delivering both flexibility and reliability,” Dutta said.
He also emphasized that Cosmo Films offers a broad product portfolio that includes Barrier Metallized Films and Chemically Coated products, catering to multiple end-use segments. With this latest investment, Cosmo Films is effectively creating an extended operational platform for its overseas manufacturing units, ensuring that quality solutions are now available within days rather than months.
Through continued infrastructure development and strategic investments, Cosmo Films is solidifying its presence in the North American market. The company remains focused on being a reliable and agile supplier of high-performance packaging films, committed to delivering comprehensive solutions that address a wide range of customer requirements.
