Cumberland Packaging selected Amtech's EnCore ERP to enhance production efficiency, streamline operations, improve inventory management, and support long-term business growth.

Cumberland Packaging Ltd, a prominent corrugated packaging manufacturer based in the UK, has chosen Amtech Software's EnCore Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform. The company aims to manage and streamline its extensive operations through this implementation. This partnership marks a significant step for Amtech as it broadens its footprint in the UK packaging market.

Cumberland Packaging, headquartered in Southend-on-Sea, is recognized as one of the top five independent corrugated sheet plants in the UK. With over forty years of manufacturing experience, the company produces a diverse range of corrugated and solid board packaging. They also convert polystyrene, foam, and various ancillary packaging materials, serving a wide customer base across the UK.

Amtech's EnCore is a web-based ERP solution specifically designed for corrugated and folding carton manufacturers. The system offers comprehensive features that integrate estimating, order processing, logistics, production, quality, inventory, purchasing, and accounting. Key functionalities include an advanced planning board for automated scheduling, advanced shipment planning, automated performance costing, and a customer care portal. It also supports barcode inventory management and visual analytics, providing actionable insights for plant operations. EnCore can also manage hand assembly, assembled products, and contract packaging services, which helps manufacturers diversify revenue streams.

Cumberland Packaging evaluated several solutions before selecting EnCore. John Watson, Owner and Managing Director of Cumberland Packaging, highlighted Amtech's deep understanding of the packaging industry and EnCore's purpose-built functionality as key factors. The company expressed confidence that EnCore is the right platform to support its continued growth.

By implementing EnCore ERP, Cumberland Packaging expects to gain end-to-end visibility across its production, inventory, and delivery operations. This enhanced visibility will enable the company to maintain its commitment to delivering customer orders "on time, every time." The adoption will modernize business operations and equip the team with better tools to serve customers more effectively. For Amtech Software, this collaboration is particularly important, as it strengthens its presence in the UKI packaging market, building on an existing strong base of label plant customers in the region. The move underscores a broader industry trend toward leveraging advanced software solutions to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction in the competitive packaging sector.

Impact on Prices of Chemical Commodities Tracked by ChemAnalyst

The adoption of an ERP platform by Cumberland Packaging is unlikely to have any immediate impact on the prices of chemical commodities tracked by ChemAnalyst. Since the investment is focused on digital process optimization rather than capacity expansion or raw material procurement, demand for key packaging-related chemicals such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), polyurethane foam, adhesives, printing inks, coatings, and specialty additives is expected to remain largely unchanged in the near term. However, improved production planning and inventory management could enhance procurement efficiency, resulting in more stable purchasing patterns instead of sudden demand fluctuations. Over the long term, if the ERP implementation enables higher production volumes and business expansion, consumption of packaging polymers, adhesives, coatings, and corrugated packaging inputs may gradually increase. Nevertheless, this development alone is not significant enough to materially influence regional or global chemical commodity prices, and overall pricing is expected to remain broadly stable.
