Cyclyx International, LLC, a leading innovator in the recycling industry, has reached key construction milestones at its first Cyclyx Circularity Center, currently under development in Houston. All major civil and structural components of the facility have been completed, marking a significant step toward the company’s goal of advancing plastic recycling.
In conjunction with this progress, Cyclyx is undergoing strategic organizational changes to align with its next phase of growth. The company recently appointed several senior leaders at its corporate headquarters in Hughes Landing, located in The Woodlands, Texas. These appointments reflect a renewed focus on operational execution and commercial expansion.
“We’ve brought on experienced industry leaders to help us stay focused on our strategic vision,” said Chris Yandell, Cyclyx CEO. “As we transform plastic recycling, we are emphasizing a disciplined, results-driven approach that supports scalable growth and delivers value to our partners.”
Beginning in May, Walter Sopp will step into the role of chief operating officer, while Vinny Pires will take over as commercial vice president. Chief Impact Officer Dr. Leslie Hushka joined the company in January. Yandell, who became CEO in December, is steering the company through a period of transformative development.
Sopp brings over two decades of leadership in industrial operations and has overseen facility startups in the U.S., Australia and China. With a background in the energy and manufacturing sectors, he also served 22 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, specializing in operational planning and change management.
Hushka, a veteran in sustainability and corporate partnerships, has 25 years of experience building environmental programs in both corporate and nonprofit settings. Her past work includes helping launch an award-winning advanced recycling initiative and leading the Alliance to End Plastic Waste. She holds a doctorate in pharmacology and toxicology from Purdue University.
Pires contributes nearly 25 years of experience in commercial management, strategy and business development across steel, mining and advanced materials sectors in the Americas. He holds MBAs from The Wharton School and FGV in Brazil.
Once operational, the Houston center will be capable of producing 300 million pounds of custom-formulated feedstock annually. A second center, planned for the Dallas-Fort Worth area, will bring total capacity to 600 million pounds per year. Both facilities will provide ISCC PLUS-certified feedstock for recycling applications.
The company’s headquarters in The Woodlands will serve as the operational hub for Yandell, incoming leadership and teams supporting its recycling infrastructure. “We appreciate the collaboration and industry access the Houston region provides,” Yandell said.
