E3 Lithium successfully launches Clearwater Phase 2 Demo Facility, confirming consistent lithium grades and advancing commercial project development plans.
E3 Lithium Ltd., a leading Canadian lithium development company, has achieved a significant milestone in the advancement of its Clearwater Project by successfully commissioning Phase 2 of its Demonstration Facility. This achievement marks another important step in the company’s journey toward commercial lithium production, while providing valuable operational data that will support future engineering and development activities. Alongside the successful startup of Phase 2, E3 Lithium continues to conduct its reservoir production testing program to further validate the performance and reliability of the project’s resource base.
A key outcome of the latest testing has been the confirmation of lithium concentrations within the produced brine. Independent laboratory analysis of brine samples collected during the production test revealed a lithium concentration of 75.8 mg/L. This result reinforces the consistency of the lithium-rich brine chemistry across the Clearwater Project and the broader Bashaw District, demonstrating the reliability and predictability of the company’s lithium resource.
The Demonstration Facility is currently being used to conduct an extended reservoir test designed to evaluate long-term flow characteristics and operational performance. During this process, lithium-bearing brine is extracted from the production well and immediately returned underground through an injection well, allowing E3 Lithium to efficiently analyze reservoir behavior within a controlled system. This closed-loop approach enables the company to rapidly collect essential data while maintaining stable operations throughout the testing phase.
Initial operational results have been highly encouraging. The production and injection well pair has successfully maintained stable brine flow, with the Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) reaching and sustaining the targeted production rate of approximately 1,400 cubic meters of brine per day under steady-state conditions. The operational data generated from this phase will play an important role in refining the Reservoir Development Plan and contributing to the upcoming Feasibility Study for the Clearwater Project.
Following the completion of the current production testing activities, E3 Lithium plans to move into the next phase of analysis, focusing on understanding the relationship between the brine and associated gases. This brine-gas evaluation will provide critical information required for the front-end design of the future commercial processing facility and will help optimize plant configuration and operational efficiency.
Throughout the ongoing testing program, E3 Lithium is regularly collecting brine samples to monitor chemistry and ensure consistency across the reservoir. The analyses are being carried out by an independent third-party laboratory, providing external validation of the lithium concentration results. This independent confirmation strengthens the company’s confidence in the technical viability of the Clearwater Project and supports its strategy of moving toward large-scale commercial lithium production.
According to Chris Doornbos, CEO and Chair of E3 Lithium, the commencement of Phase 2 operations represents the beginning of several major project-scale de-risking initiatives. He highlighted that the company has already processed a larger volume of brine through the current well pair than it had handled during all previous testing programs combined. E3 Lithium expects to continue operating the pump as required over the next two years, generating a substantial amount of reservoir performance data.
Doornbos also noted that the positive initial response from the reservoir, combined with the confirmed lithium grades from the newly developed wells, further demonstrates the consistency of the Leduc Aquifer and strengthens confidence in E3 Lithium’s extensive lithium resource.
The information gathered from the Demonstration Facility will support the company’s ongoing engineering efforts, including the completion of Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and the comprehensive Feasibility Study for the Clearwater Project. E3 Lithium will continue operating the facility to gather additional data related to reservoir performance, brine chemistry, and extraction processes, all of which will be essential for designing a future commercial facility and making informed development decisions.
