Ecolomondo ships its first commercial load of recovered carbon black, signaling operational success and growing market acceptance of its recycling technology.

Ecolomondo Corporation, a prominent Canadian leader in sustainable scrap tire recycling technologies, has reached a significant commercial milestone by shipping its first truckload of recovered carbon black (rCB) from its Hawkesbury Thermal Decomposition Process (TDP) facility. This delivery marks the company’s initial commercial sale of rCB, which was sent to its principal offtake client following confirmation that the product met stringent quality standards.

The approval from the offtake client came after extensive testing by both Ecolomondo and the client. The company utilized newly installed laboratory equipment to carry out in-depth analyses, while the client conducted their own rigorous evaluations on provided samples. The tests focused on several critical quality indicators, including moisture content, pellet size and hardness, ash content, and particle size distribution. Once the product passed these evaluations, the client placed an initial commercial order for a 23-metric-ton truckload of rCB.

This shipment utilizes rCB that was previously produced during the commissioning phase of Ecolomondo’s new milling and rCB processing lines at the Hawkesbury facility. “This first commercial shipment represents a major step forward for Ecolomondo and signifies a pivotal moment for the broader recovered carbon black industry,” said Jean-François Labbé, Interim CEO of Ecolomondo. He emphasized the importance of this achievement as the company transitions from pilot production to full-scale commercial operations.

In parallel with this shipment, Ecolomondo has provided samples to another significant offtake client. These samples are currently undergoing testing, and based on positive outcomes, the client has issued a purchase order for five metric tons of rCB for trial production. This indicates growing interest in Ecolomondo’s rCB and its potential to secure additional commercial agreements in the near future.

Looking ahead, the Hawkesbury TDP facility is designed to become a major player in tire recycling. When operating at full capacity, it is projected to process between 1.3 million to 1.5 million end-of-life tires annually. From this input, the plant expects to yield approximately 4,000 metric tons of recovered carbon black, 5,000 metric tons of pyrolysis oil, 2,000 metric tons of recovered steel, and 1,200 metric tons of process gas each year.

Ecolomondo’s success with this first shipment not only validates the technological advancements implemented at the Hawkesbury facility but also strengthens the company’s position as an emerging supplier in the circular economy, particularly in the sustainable tire and materials recovery sector.

Ecolomondo Corporation, based in Québec, is a Canadian clean technology company with over 25 years of experience. The company specializes in its proprietary Thermal Decomposition Process (TDP), a technology it has developed and refined over the years. TDP enables the recovery of high-value, reusable materials from scrap tire waste, including recovered carbon black (rCB), oil, syngas, fiber, and steel. Ecolomondo is committed to deploying turnkey TDP facilities that support sustainable resource recovery.
