Ecore International has announced the acquisition of HTI Recycling, a significant move to strengthen its supply chain and expand its leadership in rubber waste upcycling.

Ecore International, a leading innovator in surface products and waste solutions, has announced its acquisition of HTI Recycling, a prominent tire collection, recycling, reuse, and crumb rubber manufacturer based in Lockport, New York. This strategic move, which includes HTI subsidiaries Edge Rubber Recycling and D&G Heavy Equipment Leasing, is set to significantly strengthen Ecore’s supply chain and expand its operational scale in the pursuit of a more circular economy.

The acquisition unites two family-run businesses with a deeply shared vision: to deliver high-quality products and services that actively support environmental sustainability. Ecore, headquartered in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, has long been at the forefront of transforming rubber waste into high-performance surfaces. The company is particularly recognized for its groundbreaking TRUcircularity™ program, which enables customers to reclaim their end-of-life rubber products, which Ecore then meticulously transforms into new surfaces, achieving a zero-waste outcome. This initiative directly addresses the global challenge of millions of tons of rubber waste.

HTI Recycling, with its roots tracing back to founder Derek Martin’s pioneering work in reclaiming and recycling used Guinness barrels, has established itself as a leader in tire recycling across the Northeast United States. Under the combined leadership of Derek and his son, Carl E. Martin, HTI built an impressive reputation for innovation and reliability within the tire recycling and rubber products manufacturing sectors.

Art Dodge, CEO of Ecore, emphasized the strategic importance of this acquisition. “This acquisition is a meaningful step in Ecore’s strategy to rid the world of rubber waste by strengthening our supply chain and expanding our scale,” Dodge stated. “We are constantly evaluating opportunities to build on our core strategy of circularity, and this acquisition helps to carry this forward.”

Kal Krishan, President of Ecore’s Materials Business Unit, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the long-standing partnership. “HTI has long been an excellent partner for Ecore’s materials business,” Krishan added. “This acquisition will further bolster our supply chain and build on existing capabilities to deliver for our customers.”

As a direct result of this acquisition, Ecore International will welcome 81 new employees to its team. This expansion signifies a collective commitment to driving innovation in materials science and transportation. Together, the combined strengths of Ecore and HTI are poised to bring more materials back to life, fostering a more sustainable future for the environment, communities, and businesses alike.
