This monumental achievement, independently verified by American Energy Technologies Company (AETC), positions Focus Graphite as a potential key supplier of ultra-high-purity graphite for the nuclear energy sector, a market dominated by synthetic graphite and a limited number of established producers.
The rigorous thermal purification process, conducted at AETC's Wheeling, Illinois, facility, involved heating the Lac Knife material under an inert gas atmosphere at 2,800°C. Crucially, this remarkable purity was achieved without the use of halogen gases, highlighting Focus Graphite's commitment to environmentally safer processes. The results, reaching an astounding 99.9992 wt.% C, not only exceeded expectations but also lay a robust foundation for the company's ambitious transition into the nuclear-grade material purity specification.
This technological leap opens a new and lucrative downstream market entry point for Focus Graphite.
