Glenmark Pharmaceuticals’ US subsidiary has expanded its injectable medicines portfolio with the launch of Calcium Gluconate Injection USP in the American market. The product is available in both single-dose vial and pharmacy bulk package formats, strengthening the company’s presence in hospital-focused pharmaceuticals.
According to a regulatory filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange, Glenmark’s Calcium Gluconate Injection USP is bioequivalent and therapeutically equivalent to the reference-listed Calcium Gluconate Injection marketed by Fresenius Kabi USA. The approval and commercial launch add another product to Glenmark’s growing US injectables portfolio.
The company has introduced the medicine in three presentations. These include 1,000 mg/10 mL and 5,000 mg/50 mL single-dose vials, along with a 10,000 mg/100 mL pharmacy bulk package. The different formats are designed to address institutional and hospital requirements across various clinical settings.
Calcium gluconate is an injectable medicine used to restore or increase calcium levels in the body. Calcium is essential for several physiological functions, including maintaining bone strength and supporting normal heart and muscle activity. The medication is generally administered by healthcare professionals in hospitals and clinical facilities.
Marc Kikuchi, North America President and Business Head at Glenmark, said the launch represents another step toward strengthening the company’s US injectables operations and expanding its hospital product portfolio. He emphasized that the launch supports Glenmark’s broader strategy of developing a differentiated and sustainable injectable medicines business.
The company also highlighted the importance of meeting institutional healthcare requirements and improving supply resilience. By adding another hospital-use injectable, Glenmark aims to expand its relevance across the US healthcare system while creating a broader and more diversified product offering.
The Calcium Gluconate launch follows another recent regulatory development for Glenmark. A day earlier, the pharmaceutical company announced that it had received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration for Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray.
The latest product launches come as Glenmark reports strong financial momentum. During the first quarter of fiscal 2027, the company recorded consolidated profit after tax of Rs. 482.83 crore, a substantial increase from Rs. 46.97 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year.
The expansion of its US injectable portfolio therefore reflects Glenmark’s continued focus on regulated markets, hospital products and sustainable pharmaceutical growth. The Calcium Gluconate launch could also improve the company’s ability to serve institutional customers while supporting revenue diversification in the competitive US pharmaceutical market.
Product Impact and Chemical Commodity Price Impact
The Calcium Gluconate launch should have a positive impact on Glenmark’s injectable portfolio, as the company gains another hospital-focused product and strengthens its US market presence. However, the immediate effect on calcium gluconate demand and pricing is likely to remain limited because the launch primarily redistributes pharmaceutical-market demand rather than significantly expanding overall calcium consumption. For chemical commodities tracked by ChemAnalyst, the move could provide marginally supportive demand for calcium-based pharmaceutical-grade inputs, but it is unlikely to materially alter broader calcium commodity prices. Pricing will continue to depend more heavily on raw-material availability, production costs, energy prices, logistics and overall industrial demand.
