Aspartame (an artificial sweetener) prices will likely witness a positive demand outlook during January 2023. As per the study, the end-user demand for Aspartame is expected to surge this month owing to ease in trade disruption and inquiries from both the region (Germany and the United States).

As a result, Aspartame sales fell by 10% in November after falling by 3.34 percent in December. However, as we approach the first month of Q1 2023, prices for Aspartame in both Germany and the United States show an upward trend. This is likely to provide some relief to market suppliers and traders, as they have larger accumulated stocks of the same.

According to a recent study, many medical experts stated that the "level of evidence" for the connection between the consumption of artificial sweeteners and CVD (Cardiovascular Disease) risk is "still considered low," as per a News article published on December 24, 2022. This, in turn, might support the current positive market trend for Aspartame in the United States. Other than that, the trade from China, a significant exporter, along with the inquiries from the international market, has increased, keeping the prices of Aspartame on the high end.

In the United States, as the demand for Aspartame surges, traders focus on placing the quotations so as to fill up their inventories and prevent further loss aversion. Hence, January is likely to witness an inclination of around 3.22 percent in the prices of this Pharmaceutical Excipient.

Similarly, Germany is expected to mimic a similar trend for Aspartame during January 2023. The surge in interest from customers propels the market participants to restock their stores with fresh orders to cope with the demand. Because of the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday in China, the traders in Germany focused on increasing their quotations as much as possible to prevent further delays in the consignments and their losses.

As per ChemAnalyst, the price of Aspartame is projected to decline again in the coming months. The demand from the downstream sector is likely to decrease. Local retailers are expected to lower their prices to destock their overstocked inventories from the previous month, January.
