At the start of 2023, a stable price trend is observed in the Azithromycin API prices across the globe. The balance between supply and demand is causing the steady growth in Azithromycin API prices because traders have adequate product availability, which can easily fulfill the consistent demand from downstream producers. In Asian countries, market players are strongly motivated to preserve pricing stability, which is also reflected in European and North American nations as buyers of these countries are regaining confidence.

In Asia-Pacific countries like China, prices of Azithromycin API are gradually increasing because manufacturers observed a persistent demand from domestic and international markets. Coupled with this, manufacturers have sufficient inventories of Azithromycin API on hand because manufacturing activity is stirring back at a normal rate after China's government decision to lift the Covid restriction. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, China's manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) grew from 50.1 to 52.6 in February 2023. In addition, supply-chain tensions have significantly eased, resulting in better trading activities with overseas countries. Moreover, the purchasing activity from the end-user pharmaceutical and healthcare industries in the Chinese domestic market is also quite stable. Therefore, Azithromycin API prices ended February 2023 on a stable and firm note in China and are likely to remain on the higher side in March.

Similarly, Azithromycin API in the US and German markets are also witnessing the same price trajectory as China due to consistent demand and relatively stable supply in their respective markets. Meanwhile, import prices from exporting nations like China have stabilized. Also, the improvement in logistics and supply chain concerns has led to better commerce and shipping from China. Thus, CFR prices for Azithromycin API showed a small increase of 0.5% in the USA and 0.4% in Germany in February.

The ChemAnalyst team predicts that due to steady demand from downstream industries, the price of Azithromycin API in the global market will continue to stay stable on the higher side in the following months.
