In contrast, industrial consumption in Europe and the U.S. moved along different tracks, shaping a varied global outlook.
In India, Benzyl chloride prices rose during the first half of August, supported by tight global supply as floods disrupted Chinese production and Sinochem Holdings declared Force Majeure, sharply reducing export availability. Port congestion at Qingdao further delayed shipments, raising import costs for Indian buyers.
Domestic production in India remained steady but insufficient to offset reduced Chinese flows. Imports remained constrained, with the approaching typhoon season heightening delivery risks across Asia. Distributors sought forward cover, while traders leaned on inventories to prevent further disruptions.
Agrochemicals dominated demand in India, with the Kharif season boosting offtake for herbicides and pesticides. By contrast, industrial demand lagged, particularly in plastics and polymers.
