Global PET Market Softens in Early June; Europe Sees Uptick on Seasonal Demand

During the early half of June 2025, the prices for the Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) experienced a bearish trend in the key global markets coupled with the supply demand gap, regional factors and the trade shift. However, European PET prices showed a rising trend during the period.

In the United States market, PET prices remained stable during the early week of the month while it fell during the second week, notably by x.xx and prices reached at USD xxxx/MT FAS Houston. Demand for the PET remained steady during the period. However, the buying interest of the downstream market remained thin coupled with the existing trade tension, economic pressure stemming from the tariff related uncertainty.

While the supply remained ample in the region despite fluctuating feedstock prices and the rising logistics freight charges from the Asian market. Feedstock MEG prices rose during the period by x.xx while the prices for the feedstock PTA declined by x.xx only.
