Graphano Secures Permits to Advance Québec Black Jack Graphite

Graphano Energy secured Québec permits for stripping and drilling at Black Jack, advancing evaluation of a high-grade graphite discovery.

TSX Venture Exchange-listed Graphano Energy has received two exploration permits from Québec’s Ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts, allowing the company to advance field activities at its newly identified Black Jack graphite discovery in Québec.

The permits authorize two key exploration activities: mechanical stripping and diamond drilling. These programs are expected to provide Graphano with a clearer understanding of the size, continuity, width and overall geological characteristics of the graphite-bearing horizon identified at the Black Jack prospect.

Under the approved permits, mechanical stripping will cover an area of approximately one hectare. The work is scheduled to begin on September 15 this year and can continue through October 31, 2027. Diamond drilling is authorized from October 15 this year through November 30, 2027, giving Graphano an extended period to conduct detailed subsurface exploration.

Graphano discovered the Black Jack prospect during a broader prospecting campaign focused on its nearby Black Pearl discovery. Initial grab samples collected from an exposed graphite-bearing horizon at Black Jack produced encouraging graphitic carbon results. Reported values ranged from 12% to 26.5%, with an average grade of 19.8%.

The sampling results have strengthened the company’s interest in further evaluating the prospect and determining whether the graphite-bearing zone could demonstrate sufficient continuity and scale to support future development.

According to Graphano CEO Dr. Luisa Moreno, the upcoming stripping, detailed geological mapping and systematic channel sampling program will help the company assess the continuity, width and extent of the graphite-bearing horizon identified during its spring exploration campaign.

The mechanical stripping program is expected to expose additional bedrock and improve geological mapping across the target area. This could allow Graphano’s technical team to better understand the distribution of graphite mineralization and identify priority areas for follow-up drilling.

The subsequent diamond drilling campaign will provide subsurface information that surface sampling alone cannot deliver. Drill cores could help determine the depth, thickness and consistency of graphite mineralization and potentially support future resource-definition work.

Overall, the receipt of the permits represents an important step in Graphano’s exploration strategy in Québec. Further drilling and sampling results will be closely watched because stronger continuity and consistent grades could improve the prospect’s development potential and support future resource estimates.

Product Impact & Chemical Commodity Price Impact

The news is positive for graphite, as Graphano’s exploration permits enable systematic stripping, mapping, sampling and diamond drilling at the Black Jack discovery. The reported average graphitic carbon grade of 19.8% provides an encouraging basis for further evaluation, although the project remains at the exploration stage and does not immediately add commercial supply. If drilling confirms a sizable, continuous, high-grade resource, expectations for future graphite supply could increase, potentially exerting mild downward pressure on graphite prices over the longer term. However, near-term prices are unlikely to change materially because no production has commenced. Graphite demand from batteries and energy-storage applications remains the key price driver.
