GT Resources acquires Yukon’s drill-permitted CD Project, targeting a large gold-copper porphyry system comparable to the nearby Casino deposit.
GT Resources Inc. has signed an earn-in agreement to acquire the highly prospective CD Project in Yukon’s Dawson Gold Range, strengthening the company’s position in one of Canada’s most promising mineral exploration regions. The project, located near Carmacks and approximately 90 kilometres southeast of the renowned Casino deposit, hosts a drill-ready gold-copper porphyry target with permits already in place for up to 50,000 metres of drilling through 2033.
The acquisition marks a significant step for GT Resources as it seeks exposure to large-scale gold-rich copper systems in the underexplored Dawson Range Gold Belt. The company believes the CD Project shares strong geological similarities with the nearby Casino deposit owned by Western Copper and Gold, which hosts measured and indicated resources of 7.6 billion pounds of copper and 4.8 million ounces of gold.
Neil Pettigrew, Vice President of Exploration at GT Resources, described the Yukon as a premier Tier-1 mining jurisdiction and emphasized the company’s extensive search for high-potential porphyry systems before selecting CD as a priority asset. He noted that the project combines advanced exploration data, de-risked drill targets, and a straightforward exploration model with the potential to host a multi-billion-tonne deposit.
The CD Project already benefits from a substantial database generated through previous exploration campaigns. More than 15,000 soil samples, 90 line-kilometres of induced polarization surveys, and 690 line-kilometres of drone magnetic surveys have identified multiple high-priority targets that remain largely untested. Historical drilling across the property totals only about 800 metres completed in six drill holes during the 1970s.
Exploration data has identified a large 1,200-metre by 400-metre gold-copper-molybdenum anomaly supported by coincident geophysical and geochemical signatures. Historical drill results included intersections such as 0.15% copper over 15.2 metres and 0.09 grams per tonne gold with 0.10% copper over 21.3 metres. Surface trenching and grab samples also returned encouraging gold, copper, and molybdenum values.
In addition to the porphyry target, the project hosts the undrilled Schist target, a vein-hosted gold-silver system associated with a broad 2,000-metre by 500-metre gold-arsenic soil anomaly. Historical trench samples returned grades including 1.67 grams per tonne gold over 6.5 metres, while grab samples recorded up to 6.29 grams per tonne gold and 25.7 grams per tonne silver.
GT Resources plans an extensive exploration campaign beginning in 2026, including a property-wide airborne MobileMT survey designed to map deep subsurface resistivity and sulphide mineralization. Data from the survey will support development of a comprehensive 3D geological model to refine drill targets ahead of a planned 2,500 to 3,000 metre diamond drilling program in 2027.
