HH Chemical has announced the launch of BIODEX®, the world’s first fully integrated bio-based materials brand designed to provide end-to-end solutions—from renewable raw materials to finished consumer goods. This new platform establishes a closed-loop ecosystem that supports seamless integration from sustainable sourcing to final application.
BIODEX® includes a broad portfolio of products such as high-performance monomers, elastomers, polymer chips, fibers, functional fabrics, and customizable garments. The platform empowers industries to combine sustainability and performance without compromise.
With three defining benefits—greener, softer and more elastic—BIODEX® is tailored for diverse sectors including textiles and apparel, automotive, aerospace, personal care, and biomedical. The brand represents a new standard for sustainable innovation, bringing together high functionality and aesthetic appeal. BIODEX® aims to accelerate the transition to environmentally responsible manufacturing and healthier consumption patterns.
Verified Environmental Performance with Next-Generation Benefits
BIODEX® delivers superior performance compared to traditional synthetic fibers, offering enhanced softness, elasticity, breathability and shape retention. At the same time, it offers a significant environmental advantage. During production, BIODEX® reduces carbon emissions by up to 73% compared to petroleum-based nylon polymers. Additionally, it is fully recyclable at the end of its life cycle, setting a new benchmark in sustainable materials.
“The launch of BIODEX® marks a major advancement in the science of bio-based materials,” said Leo Wang, co-founder and general manager of HH Chemical, during an interview with the Singapore Economic Development Board. “It reflects our commitment to environmental stewardship and consumer well-being under the ESG framework.”
Innovating for Longstanding Industry Challenges
BIODEX® is already disrupting conventional product categories. Traditional foams used in women’s lingerie and swimwear have long raised concerns due to potential health risks and environmental hazards. BIODEX® offers a safer, breathable, recyclable and cost-effective alternative, catering to women of all skin tones and cultural backgrounds.
From Lab to Market Through Global Collaboration
The development of BIODEX® was made possible through a collaborative research effort between HH Chemical and the National University of Singapore under the SINERGY (Singapore Consortium for Synthetic Biology) initiative. The brand uses palm oil byproducts and HH Chemical’s proprietary biosynthesis technology, resulting in a patented series scaled for commercial production in 2023.
BIODEX® is now expanding into high-value applications such as healthcare, sustainable packaging and eco-industrial materials. Supporting the global circular economy, the brand helps partners shift their product strategies through sustainable innovation. As demand for carbon neutrality grows, BIODEX® seeks to connect research, production and consumer ecosystems to drive a more sustainable future through advanced material science.
