Huntsman Corp., a global manufacturer and marketer of differentiated and specialty chemicals (including polyurethane, advanced materials, and performance products), announced the expansion of its Conroe, Texas, facility with the addition of a new purification and packaging unit under its E-GRADE® product line. The investment aims to meet rising global demand for high-purity materials used in semiconductor manufacturing.
The expansion, part of the company’s Performance Products division, is expected to strengthen Huntsman’s position in the semiconductor market by supplying high-quality, low-trace metal amines. These products—including quaternary amines and amine oxides—are essential to the production of advanced semiconductor chips, which are increasingly in demand due to the rapid development of artificial intelligence and next-generation technologies.
“With the accelerating growth of AI and the corresponding need for advanced node chips, our Conroe investment demonstrates our long-term commitment to innovation and supply chain reliability for semiconductor customers around the world,” said Peter Huntsman, chairman, president and CEO of Huntsman Corp.
The new E-GRADE® unit will allow for end-to-end control of product quality, with capabilities spanning blending, purification and packaging. The facility is designed to support consistent, high-purity output while adhering to rigorous industry standards for safety, reliability and performance.
Jan Buberl, president of Performance Products, said the expansion enhances Huntsman’s ability to serve the global semiconductor market.
“With this new offering, we are well positioned to become a leading supplier of semiconductor-grade amines,” Buberl said. “We now bring together global manufacturing scale, deep R&D capabilities and a comprehensive product portfolio to deliver solutions that align with the highest quality expectations in the industry.”
The development has also been welcomed by local officials as a boost to the regional economy. Duke Coon, mayor of Conroe, praised the investment for its economic impact and job creation potential.
“Huntsman’s E-GRADE® unit is a major milestone for our city,” Coon said. “This expansion not only enhances Conroe’s reputation as a center for advanced manufacturing and technology, but it also brings new employment opportunities to our community.”
The Conroe facility’s strategic upgrade underscores Huntsman’s focus on growth and innovation in key markets, including electronics and semiconductors, while reinforcing its broader goal of delivering high-performance solutions across the globe.
