IMCD acquires Tillmanns, boosting its Italian presence, expanding technical capabilities, and strengthening partnerships across industrial, food, and water treatment markets.

IMCD N.V., a global leader in the distribution and formulation of specialty chemicals and ingredients, has announced a definitive agreement to acquire 100% ownership of Tillmanns S.p.A. The transaction reflects IMCD’s strategy to strengthen its presence in Italy while enhancing its technical capabilities and customer reach in key markets.

Founded in 1940 and headquartered in Milan, Tillmanns has earned a long-standing reputation as a trusted distributor of specialty chemicals. The company has grown into a vital partner for both global suppliers and an extensive network of customers. With strong operations across Italy, Tillmanns serves multiple industries including coatings, construction, food and nutrition, and water treatment. Its diverse portfolio of premium products, combined with deep market knowledge, has positioned it as a highly respected player in the Italian chemicals distribution sector.

Tillmanns employs a skilled team of 78 professionals who contribute to its commercial execution and technical expertise. Beyond distribution, the company provides value-added services through its logistics hub in Milan and an in-house R&D laboratory. This facility offers advanced testing, customized formulations, and tailored technical support, enabling the company to meet evolving customer demands. In 2024, Tillmanns achieved annual revenues of approximately EUR 143 million, underscoring its strong performance and market standing.

For IMCD, the acquisition represents a highly strategic move. It enhances scale in Italy, strengthens market positioning, and creates new avenues for growth across both industrial and food-related markets. Tillmanns’ exclusive supplier partnerships and premium positioning align seamlessly with IMCD’s ambition to deliver value-driven solutions, digital innovation, and high-level technical support to its global stakeholders.

Marcus Jordan, CEO of IMCD, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition: “This is a significant step in reinforcing our Italian footprint. Tillmanns offers strong local expertise, trusted customer relationships, and a platform for growth across industrial, water, and food applications. It represents a true powerhouse for our partners, suppliers, and teams in Italy. We are equally excited to welcome a talented and experienced group of professionals who will bring continuity and additional value to IMCD’s operations.”

The integration of Tillmanns is expected to create synergies that will benefit suppliers, customers, and employees alike, positioning IMCD as an even stronger force in the Italian specialty chemicals distribution landscape.

Completion of the transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions. The deal is anticipated to officially close in the fourth quarter of 2025.
