India’s Sodium Coco Sulphate Prices Strengthen in July on Tight Inventories and Firm Demand

William Faulkner 17-Aug-2026
Sodium Coco Sulphate prices in India strengthened in July 2026 as tightening inventories, steady export inquiries, and resilient personal-care demand supported seller confidence. Lower domestic coconut-oil availability tightened lauric-chain feedstock supply and raised conversion costs, while overall industry inventories remained low. Monsoon-driven hygiene demand supported consumption of personal-care products, and consistent export inquiries from Southeast Asia helped maintain regular shipment schedules. Consequently, sodium coco sulphate availability remained constrained and sodium coco sulphate sellers maintained firmer offers.

Supply conditions remained relatively tight. Western Indian surfactant complexes operated near full utilisation, with newly commissioned spray-drying lines supporting nameplate capacity and allowing producers to fulfil domestic and export commitments. However, lower summer coconut crushing reduced the availability of coconut-derived fatty alcohols, tightening the raw-material balance. Rising edible-oil imports partially offset the shortfall, preventing a more severe supply disruption. Overall, declining inventories provided stronger leverage to sodium coco sulphate producers during July.

Market participants reported that social inventories were low, limiting the availability of discounted material. Traders increasingly resisted lower offers as stocks declined gradually, while buyers faced fewer opportunities to secure competitively priced cargoes. The combination of lean inventories and steady production therefore kept the market firm rather than triggering significant supply shortages. Sodium coco sulphate sellers were able to maintain higher quotations as replacement costs increased and immediate availability became more valuable.

Sodium coco sulphate demand from the personal-care and hygiene industries remained supportive during July. Monsoon conditions encouraged consumption of soaps, shampoos, hand-wash products, and other hygiene formulations, sustaining downstream requirements for surfactants. Personal-care manufacturers maintained regular procurement schedules, while formulators generally avoided excessive inventory accumulation. This steady consumption provided a reliable demand base and prevented a significant correction in sodium coco sulphate prices.

Export activity also contributed to the firm market balance. Inquiries from Southeast Asian markets remained consistent, allowing Indian suppliers to maintain regular shipment schedules alongside domestic deliveries. Export buyers continued to seek Indian material amid competitive regional economics, keeping producer order books healthy. The additional export pull reduced the quantity readily available for domestic spot transactions and reinforced the firm tone across the sodium coco sulphate market.

According to ChemAnalyst data, Sodium coco sulphate prices are likely to decline as seasonal monsoon-driven hygiene demand begins to normalize. Comfortable inventory levels across distributors and end-users, coupled with elevated downstream stocks, are expected to limit fresh procurement. A late-summer slowdown in industrial and personal-care activity may further dampen buying momentum, increasing pressure on sellers to offer competitive prices. Unless export demand strengthens significantly or raw-material availability tightens unexpectedly, the market is expected to face gradual downward pressure in the near term.
