Iran: The Iranian Industry, Mining and Trade Ministry recently released data that show vast production of Steel products in Iran - 14.527 million tons within the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-December 21, 2022). However, compared to the same period during the prior year, this is a 23% drop in production.

Despite the difficulties posed by external forces such as U.S. sanctions and the Coronavirus pandemic, Iran's Steel industry has been steadily progressing in recent years. In fact, it is estimated that by 1404 of the Iranian calendars (March 2025), Iran will have secured its place among the top seven producers of Steel in the world.

According to the recent report released by the World Steel Association (WSA), Iran's crude Steel production has seen an 8.5% spike in the first 11 months of 2022, while global Steel output for the same period has declined 3.7%.

According to (WSA), Iran's output of crude Steel reached 27.9 million tons in the 11-month period ending 2021, an increase of 2.2 million tons compared to 25.7 million tons in the same period last year. Additionally, the total global production of crude Steel by WSA's top 64 producers was estimated at 1.691 billion tons during that time span.

During the first 11 months of the current year, all the world's top 10 Steel producers - excluding Iran and India - experienced a decrease in their Steel output. In November, Iran's monthly crude Steel output was recorded at 2.9 million tons, which saw an increase of 3.9 percent compared to the same month in 2021. Despite this, the Islamic Republic of Iran maintained its place as the tenth largest Steel producer globally in this period.
