Kemira acquires Clear Water Technologies business strengthening North American industrial water treatment services through enhanced capabilities, customer reach, and integration strategy.

Kemira, a globally recognized leader in sustainable chemical solutions for water-intensive industries, has successfully completed the acquisition of the business operations and associated assets of Clear Water Technologies, LLC, a privately held company headquartered in California, United States. This strategic move is aimed at reinforcing Kemira’s footprint in the North American market while accelerating its expansion within the industrial water treatment services segment, which is currently experiencing stronger growth compared to conventional water treatment markets.

The acquisition encompasses Clear Water Technologies’ full service operations, its established customer base, and a range of related operational assets. The acquired company specializes in providing boiler and cooling tower water treatment services tailored primarily to light industrial customers across California. These services play a critical role in ensuring efficient water usage, system reliability, and operational safety in industrial facilities that depend heavily on water-intensive processes.

Financially, Clear Water Technologies reported revenues slightly above USD 3 million for the year 2025, supported by a lean workforce of 12 employees. While the financial terms of the acquisition have not been publicly disclosed, both parties have mutually agreed to keep the purchase price confidential. The scale of the business, though modest, represents a strategically valuable addition for Kemira due to its strong regional customer relationships and specialized service capabilities.

According to Tuija Pohjolainen-Hiltunen, Executive Vice President of Water Solutions at Kemira, the acquisition significantly strengthens Kemira’s ability to deliver enhanced value to its customers. By integrating Clear Water Technologies’ technical service expertise with Kemira’s advanced chemical applications and broader solution portfolio, the company aims to create a more comprehensive and competitive offering in the industrial water treatment space. She further emphasized that this acquisition marks the second such transaction following Kemira’s earlier purchase of Water Engineering, Inc., which has already provided a strong foundation for both organic growth and additional inorganic expansion in North America.

This deal highlights Kemira’s ongoing strategy of building a more service-oriented and customer-centric water treatment business. Rather than relying solely on chemical supply, the company is increasingly focusing on end-to-end solutions that combine chemicals, technical services, and operational support. This approach is expected to strengthen customer retention, deepen market penetration, and improve long-term revenue stability.

Following the completion of the transaction, the acquired business will be fully integrated into Kemira’s Water Solutions unit. Operations will continue from its existing location in California, ensuring continuity for customers and minimal disruption to ongoing services. Over time, the integration is expected to unlock operational synergies, enhance service capabilities, and expand Kemira’s reach in the industrial water treatment sector across the United States.

Overall, this acquisition aligns with Kemira’s long-term strategy of expanding in high-growth, value-added segments of the water treatment industry while strengthening its leadership position in sustainable chemical solutions.
