KPI has embarked on the production of a groundbreaking polypropylene grade, PP H031 BF/7, specifically tailored for the manufacturing of BOPP film. This innovative polypropylene variant finds applications in Europe and Kazakhstan, particularly in the production of polymer film packaging used for food and everyday goods, labels, and adhesive tape. According to a statement from KPI's co-owner, the national entity KazMunayGas, BOPP films crafted from PP H031 BF/7 boast exceptional strength and elasticity, exhibit resistance to various aggressive environments, and are inert and safe for human use.

PP H031 BF/7 also serves as a vital component in the creation of films utilized for laminating printed images and in stationery applications. Over the course of a week, the Atyrau-based complex successfully generated 1 thousand tons of this novel polypropylene grade. This marks a significant expansion from the plant's previous production of polypropylene variants, namely PP H030 and PP H120.

Bolat Abdualiyev, the Head of Production, expressed the heightened demand for the newly introduced PP H031 grade both domestically and internationally. The production of this grade is poised to meet the comprehensive needs of local companies, effectively mitigating dependence on imports, as highlighted in the press release.

In a broader industry context, KPI's strategic move aligns with the company's commitment to innovation and responsiveness to market demands. The introduction of PP H031 BF/7 not only broadens the product portfolio but also addresses the specific requirements of industries relying on high-quality polypropylene for film production.

In recent developments, it was reported that Sinopec has acquired a 30% stake in the Kazakh polyethylene production project from KazMunayGas (KMG). Despite this ownership shift, KMG retains a 40% stake in production, while the remaining 30% belongs to Russia's SIBUR. The joint venture envisions the construction of a plant with an annual capacity of 1.25 million tons in the Atyrau region of Kazakhstan.

KPI Inc. LLP serves as the operator of the ambitious project titled "Construction of the first integrated gas chemical complex in the Atyrau region." Since 2022, the facility has been successfully converting gas from the Tengiz field into polypropylene. With a design capacity of 500 thousand tons of granulated polypropylene per year, the enterprise stands as a testament to Kazakhstan's commitment to advancing its petrochemical capabilities and contributing to the global polymer industry.

As KPI continues to play a pivotal role in the realization of Kazakhstan's petrochemical ambitions, the introduction of the PP H031 BF/7 grade reflects the company's dedication to providing cutting-edge solutions to meet the diverse needs of its clientele. Moreover, the successful production of this innovative polypropylene grade positions KPI as a key player in the regional and international markets, contributing to the ongoing evolution of the petrochemical sector. The strategic partnerships and investments in the polyethylene project underscore the collaborative efforts driving Kazakhstan's emergence as a significant player in the global petrochemical landscape.
