Loop–Ester India JV Awards Toyo Detailed Engineering Contract for Infinite Loop Project

William Faulkner 18-Dec-2025

Loop Industries and Ester Industries advance Infinite Loop India by awarding detailed engineering to Toyo, targeting 70,000-ton PET recycling by 2027.

Loop Industries, Inc., a global clean technology innovator dedicated to advancing a fully circular plastics economy, has announced a major milestone for its India-focused growth strategy. The company confirmed that its Indian joint venture, ELITe (Ester Loop Infinite Technologies Pvt. Ltd.), established in partnership with Ester Industries, has awarded the detailed engineering contract for the Infinite Loop™ India project to Toyo Engineering India Private Limited. Toyo Engineering India is a highly respected engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) organization with more than 40 years of experience delivering complex industrial and petrochemical projects across the country.

This award represents a critical advancement in the project’s development lifecycle. It follows the successful completion of the front-end engineering design (FEED) phase, which was carried out by Tata Consulting Engineers. With FEED now finalized, the project has moved into its final engineering stage before construction begins. Under the scope of the new contract, Toyo Engineering India will be responsible for comprehensive detailed design, procurement engineering support, and preparation of all technical documentation required to move the project seamlessly into execution.

The Infinite Loop™ India manufacturing facility is being developed to meet rapidly growing demand from both the packaging and textile industries. The plant is designed with an annual capacity of approximately 70,000 metric tonnes of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin. Utilizing Loop Industries’ proprietary Infinite Loop™ technology, the facility will convert low-value plastic and textile waste into virgin-quality PET resin, suitable for food-grade packaging as well as textile-to-textile recycling applications. This approach directly addresses India’s mounting plastic waste challenge while supporting global brands seeking sustainable material solutions.

Construction of the facility is progressing in line with the original schedule, with completion targeted by the end of 2027. The project recently achieved another significant commercial milestone through the signing of a long-term, multi-year offtake agreement with Nike, which will serve as the anchor customer for the plant’s output. This agreement provides strong demand visibility and reinforces confidence in the project’s long-term viability.

From a financial standpoint, the project continues to demonstrate robust fundamentals. Total capital expenditure is currently tracking below the previously announced budget of $176 million. Notably, approximately $5 million in cost savings has already been realized through efficient land acquisition. These responses underscore strong lender confidence in the project’s economic attractiveness and risk profile.

Commenting on the development, Adel Essaddam, Chief Operating Officer of Loop Industries, emphasized the strategic importance of the detailed engineering phase. He highlighted that with FEED completed, land secured, Nike onboard as anchor customer, and Toyo now engaged for detailed engineering, the project is firmly on track to deliver India’s first Infinite Loop™ facility on schedule and at competitive cost.

Arvind Singhania, Chairman and CEO of Ester Industries, echoed this sentiment, noting that the partnership with Toyo strengthens the project’s technical foundation and accelerates progress toward building a world-class recycling plant capable of redefining PET recycling standards in India.

From Toyo Engineering India’s perspective, Kishor Salunke described the project as a distinctive and forward-looking initiative aligned with Toyo’s mission of engineering for sustainable global growth. He expressed confidence that the collaboration with ELITe will result in a landmark facility and a lasting partnership focused on circular economy solutions.
