A fire erupted at a Tashkent polyethylene plant; swiftly contained, no injuries reported, and authorities are investigating causes and safety compliance.
A massive fire broke out at a polyethylene production facility in the Tashkent district on the morning of October 5. According to an official statement from the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Tashkent region, the incident was first reported at 09:06 a.m. through the “112” emergency response system. The fire erupted at a plant located on Binokorlar Street, an area that houses several industrial establishments.
Upon receiving the alert, fire and rescue teams from the Emergency Situations Department were immediately dispatched to the location. The first response units reached the site at approximately 09:15 a.m. and quickly began containment operations. Thanks to the prompt action of the emergency crews, the fire was brought under control by 09:40 a.m., and complete extinguishment was achieved by 10:04 a.m. Authorities confirmed that no fatalities or injuries occurred during the incident, and all plant workers were safely evacuated.
Officials have stated that the cause of the fire remains under active investigation. A team of technical experts and safety inspectors has been deployed to examine the origin of the blaze and determine whether any safety protocols were breached. Early findings suggest that the incident may have started in a section of the plant used for material heating or polymer processing, though this has not yet been officially confirmed.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations emphasized that comprehensive measures are being taken to prevent similar incidents in the future. These include a review of fire safety systems, reinforcement of industrial safety training for employees, and stricter enforcement of compliance standards across polyethylene and other chemical production facilities in the region.
Local authorities have also assured residents that the fire did not cause any significant environmental or air quality impact. The quick response and containment efforts prevented the flames from spreading to nearby structures or releasing hazardous substances into the atmosphere.
The incident serves as a critical reminder of the importance of stringent fire safety management within industrial zones, particularly in facilities handling flammable materials such as polyethylene. The Ministry reiterated its commitment to ensuring workplace safety, strengthening monitoring mechanisms, and equipping response units with modern firefighting technology.
While the exact financial losses resulting from the fire have not yet been disclosed, officials have confirmed that operations at the plant will remain temporarily suspended until safety assessments are completed and the facility is deemed secure for resumption of production.
