Nevada Organic Phosphate Inc. (NOP), a British Columbia-based company focused on organic sedimentary phosphate exploration, has appointed P&E Mining Consultants Inc. to provide independent technical support for its wholly owned Murdock Mountain Property in Elko County, Nevada.
The engagement represents an important step in NOP’s strategy to advance the Murdock Mountain project through systematic exploration, technical assessment, and long-term development planning. P&E will contribute specialized expertise in geological interpretation, three-dimensional geological modelling, Mineral Resource and Mineral Reserve Estimates (MRE), Preliminary Economic Assessments (PEA), feasibility studies, property evaluations, mine design, production scheduling, operating and capital cost estimation, and metallurgical engineering.
P&E’s experience in the phosphate sector further strengthens the value of its involvement. The consultancy has previously supported several phosphate-related projects, including First Phosphate Corp., where it contributed to MRE, PEA, and feasibility study activities. It has also worked with Nuinsco Resources Limited on mineral resource estimation and supported Fosfatos del Pacífico S.A. in Peru and Fosfatos de Taltal SpA in Chile through resource estimation and process-related guidance.
For Nevada Organic Phosphate, this expertise is expected to support the continued technical evaluation of the Murdock Mountain sedimentary phosphate horizon. P&E’s work will focus on refining geological interpretations, improving modelling, and helping the company progressively reduce technical and development risks associated with the project.
NOP CEO Robin Dow said that bringing P&E onboard would strengthen the company’s technical capabilities as it moves the Murdock Mountain project forward. He highlighted P&E’s phosphate-sector knowledge, resource-modelling expertise, and technical reporting capabilities as being aligned with NOP’s focus on disciplined project development and regulatory compliance.
Garry Smith, P.Geo., Director and Qualified Person at Nevada Organic Phosphate, added that P&E’s participation would help refine the company’s geological understanding and support upcoming technical work and reporting. He noted that the consultancy’s background in phosphate modelling and project evaluation should provide a stronger technical foundation as exploration progresses.
Overall, the appointment signals NOP’s intention to establish a more robust technical framework for Murdock Mountain. While the engagement does not immediately represent commercial production or a change in phosphate supply, stronger geological modelling and project evaluation could improve the project’s development prospects and support future resource-definition activities.
Chemical Commodity Price Impact
The immediate impact on phosphate products is likely to be limited because the appointment is a technical-development milestone rather than a production or capacity expansion. However, P&E’s involvement could improve resource confidence, geological modelling, and the project’s long-term feasibility, potentially supporting future phosphate rock supply from Nevada. If Murdock Mountain advances toward development, additional domestic phosphate resources could modestly strengthen supply security and reduce reliance on imported material. For phosphate rock, phosphoric acid, and phosphate fertilizers, the near-term price impact should remain neutral. Over the longer term, successful project development could create mild downward pressure by adding supply, although this would depend on production scale and market conditions.
