Niutech secures £22M UK order for advanced pyrolysis line, boosting Europe’s chemical recycling efforts and validating its global technological leadership.

Niutech, a global frontrunner in continuous pyrolysis technology, has officially announced the signing of a major product sales contract with a client in the United Kingdom. The agreement involves the delivery of a 60,000-tonne-per-year industrial continuous waste plastic pyrolysis production line and carries a total value of approximately £22 million (RMB 198 million).

This development comes at a time when the UK and broader European region are intensifying circular economy policies. Such regulations are accelerating the transition toward advanced waste treatment and recycling technologies. A key driver of this momentum is the UK Plastic Packaging Tax, which increased in April this year. The levy now stands at £223.69 per tonne for plastic packaging containing less than 30% recycled material. As a result, the demand for reliable chemical recycling solutions has grown significantly, positioning Niutech’s advanced pyrolysis systems as a timely and strategic response.

Pyrolysis technology enables the transformation of waste plastics into high-value energy products that can be refined into chemical feedstocks for new plastics. This process ensures genuine chemical recycling and facilitates peer-grade reuse of plastic waste. However, the method requires sophisticated technical standards, both in process design and equipment quality. With more than three decades of expertise, Niutech has successfully pioneered a large-scale intelligent industrial continuous pyrolysis production line. This innovation addresses longstanding industry challenges, ensuring stable performance even under large-scale operations. Notably, it delivers a 30% boost in production efficiency, while simultaneously lowering energy consumption and carbon emissions.

Research highlights that processing 100,000 tonnes of waste plastics using Niutech’s technology can reduce 290,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, underlining its global environmental and economic significance.

The acquisition of this £22 million UK order is a testament to Niutech’s strong international reputation. According to a company market executive, the client conducted a detailed evaluation of several projects—including a BASF-backed waste plastic initiative in Europe that already employs Niutech’s pyrolysis equipment. After benchmarking Niutech’s offering against multiple domestic and international competitors, and carefully assessing aspects such as technological advancement, maturity, and operational stability, the client ultimately chose Niutech as their preferred partner.

Commenting on the achievement, a senior Niutech executive emphasized that this agreement represents more than just a commercial success. It marks an important entry point into the high-end European market, reinforcing the company’s competitive edge in the global pyrolysis sector. The executive further noted that being recognized by leading international clients validates Niutech’s technological advantages and strengthens its positioning as a reliable enabler of large-scale plastic waste recycling worldwide.
