This project is a partnership between Peróxidos do Brasil and Arauco, as the former will construct the world’s second myH2O2® satellite hydrogen peroxide plant directly at Arauco’s new Sucuriú pulp mill in Brazil.

In a major boost to the sustainability and reliability of Brazil’s burgeoning "Pulp Valley," Peróxidos do Brasil has announced plans to build a new myH2O2® satellite hydrogen peroxide plant directly on-site at Arauco's Sucuriú project. This strategic move, which marks the deployment of the world’s second myH2O2® unit, is set to solidify the supply chain for one of the largest single-line pulp mills globally.

The Sucuriú project, located in Inocência, Brazil, represents Arauco's most significant global investment to date, a colossal undertaking valued at US$4.6 billion. With an expected annual production capacity of 3.5 million tons of bleached eucalyptus kraft pulp, the mill, slated to begin operations by 2028, demands a robust and consistent supply of key operational chemicals. Hydrogen peroxide is indispensable to this process, acting as a crucial enabler for clean pulp bleaching and water treatment.

The decision to implement the proprietary myH2O2® technology, developed by Solvay, is central to the project’s focus on sustainability and efficiency. This innovative model is specifically designed to bring the production of hydrogen peroxide closer to customers, particularly in remote or infrastructure-limited regions like Inocência.

"This project marks a major step forward in our partnership with Arauco and our commitment to sustainable, customer-focused innovation," stated Carlos Silveira, President of Solvay’s Peroxides business. "By deploying our myH2O2® model, we’re not only optimizing logistics and reducing emissions, but also strengthening our presence in Brazil’s fast-growing pulp sector."

The on-site unit is engineered to produce 25,000 tons of hydrogen peroxide per year. This capacity is set to fully meet Arauco’s substantial demand, with any surplus production made available to the wider market in the area. By eliminating the need for long-distance transport of the chemical, the myH2O2® plant will significantly reduce logistics costs, minimize environmental impact, and enhance overall supply reliability—a critical factor for a mill of this scale.

The advanced automation integrated into the new plant will ensure seamless operational efficiency and a high degree of supply reliability, guaranteeing that Arauco’s production line will not face bottlenecks due to chemical sourcing. The project underscores a strong commitment from Peróxidos do Brasil to support the sustainable growth of the Brazilian pulp industry.

Arauco's Sucuriú Project is poised to be a game-changer in the global pulp market. Its massive capacity will solidify Brazil's position as a dominant force in pulp production.
