Saint-Gobain acquires Interstar, Isoltech, and Soquimic to boost global construction chemicals platform and accelerate sustainable construction growth.
Saint-Gobain has significantly expanded its construction chemicals platform through the acquisition of three companies across North America, Europe, and South America. These strategic bolt-on acquisitions are part of the Group’s broader “Grow & Impact” strategy, aimed at reinforcing global leadership and accelerating growth in sustainable construction solutions.
The three companies acquired are Interstar Materials in North America, Isoltech in Italy, and Soquimic in Peru. These additions are expected to enhance Saint-Gobain’s technological capabilities and market presence, as well as broaden its product portfolio in construction chemicals.
Interstar Materials, based in North America, is a prominent manufacturer of high-performance granular pigments used across the concrete industry, including ready-mix and precast concrete. Founded in 1987, the company operates two production facilities in Canada (in Quebec and Alberta) and one in the United States (Illinois). Interstar specializes in granular pigments, which are gaining popularity among architects and contractors due to their vibrant color output, ease of handling and storage, environmental advantages, and resilience under various temperature conditions. These pigments offer a sustainable alternative to liquid or powder pigments. Interstar will enhance Saint-Gobain’s decorative concrete solutions, particularly in façade and architectural applications, and complement its robust footprint in North America’s construction chemicals sector.
Isoltech, an Italian company founded in 1987, specializes in additive solutions for cellular concrete. The company is headquartered in Verdellino, in northern Italy, and is recognized for its innovation in lightweight concrete applications. Its products are known for providing exceptional thermal and acoustic insulation, as well as fire resistance, recyclability, and water and vapor permeability. Isoltech serves a diverse client base across ready-mix concrete, precast, and screed markets. With this acquisition, Saint-Gobain gains advanced expertise in cellular concrete technology, an increasingly important component of sustainable and lightweight construction.
Soquimic, a Peruvian manufacturer of concrete admixtures, was established in 2013 and operates two production facilities: one in Lurin near Lima, and another in Arequipa in southern Peru. This acquisition enhances Saint-Gobain’s footprint in a fast-growing construction market and complements its previous acquisition of Z Aditivos in 2021, which focused on cement additives. Soquimic’s portfolio will be integrated with Saint-Gobain’s existing offerings such as Weber tile adhesives and façade renders, further strengthening its product range in Peru.
Combined, Interstar, Isoltech, and Soquimic generate approximately €25 million in annual revenues. All three companies will leverage Chryso’s expertise in innovation and R&D, aiding customers in the development of low-carbon materials. Additionally, they will benefit from Saint-Gobain’s extensive global distribution network to broaden their market reach and value proposition.
These acquisitions align with Saint-Gobain’s mission to support sustainable and lightweight construction, further solidifying its position as a global leader in the construction chemicals industry.
