SEKISUI CHEMICAL CO., LTD. Announced on June 25 a significant expansion of its operations in India with the establishment of a new injection molding plant for automotive interior and exterior parts in Pune, Maharashtra. This marks the sixth factory for SEKISUI DLJM MOLDING PRIVATE LIMITED, a joint venture dedicated to manufacturing and selling injection molded products for automobiles.
The investment, totaling approximately $3 million, underscores SEKISUI CHEMICAL's commitment to strengthening its presence in the rapidly growing Indian automotive market. The new facility is projected to commence operations in January 2026, significantly enhancing the company's production capabilities in the region.
The decision to locate the new plant in the Chakan district of Pune is highly strategic, as Pune is a major hub for numerous automobile manufacturers, promising robust growth opportunities. The new facility will span a site area of 10,044 square meters, with a plant floor area of 6,288 square meters. It will primarily produce injection molded products made from polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), polycarbonate (PC), and polystyrene (PS) for both automobiles and motorcycles.
This expansion is a direct result of SEKISUI CHEMICAL’s High Performance Plastics Company, led by President Akira Asano, positioning the injection molding business within the mobility field as a strategic core. India, with its increasing motorization, has been identified as a key market for this growth. SEKISUI DLJM MOLDING was established in August 2011 as a joint venture with Dipty Lal Judge Mal Private Limited, a prominent local company, and has since been a pivotal player in the automotive supply chain.
Upon its operational launch in early 2026, the Pune Plant is expected to increase SEKISUI DLJM MOLDING's production capacity in India by approximately 15%. This expansion is a crucial step towards SEKISUI DLJM MOLDING's ambitious goal of achieving net sales of $130 million in fiscal year 2030, reinforcing SEKISUI CHEMICAL’s long-term vision for the Indian market.
Dipty Lal Judge Mal Private Limited, the Indian joint venture partner, brings a wealth of experience since its establishment in 1984, specializing in injection molded products for various sectors, including consumer electronics. With 428 employees as of April 1, 2025, and sales of 13.6 billion yen in fiscal 2024, their deep local market knowledge complements SEKISUI CHEMICAL's advanced manufacturing expertise.
