Sika partners with Giatec to expand AI-driven digital concrete technologies globally, improving efficiency, quality, sustainability, and real-time production monitoring.
Sika has announced a global commercial partnership with Giatec Scientific Inc., a Canada-based pioneer in digital concrete technology. The collaboration is designed to strengthen Sika’s digital product portfolio and bring advanced, data-driven tools to the global concrete industry. Through this alliance, concrete producers around the world will gain improved access to artificial intelligence (AI)–powered analytics and digital monitoring systems that help optimize production quality, reduce operational costs, and support more sustainable construction practices.
The agreement aligns with Sika’s long-term innovation and digitalization strategy, which forms a key component of the company’s “Fast Forward” growth program. This strategic initiative aims to generate an additional EBITDA contribution of between CHF 150 million and CHF 200 million by 2028. Digital solutions and data-driven services are expected to play a major role in achieving this target by enabling smarter material usage, improved project outcomes, and enhanced productivity throughout the construction value chain.
The construction sector is currently experiencing a rapid increase in demand for digital technologies. According to research by Fortune Business Insights, the global market for artificial intelligence applications in construction is forecast to grow from approximately CHF 4.7 billion in 2026 to nearly CHF 27.5 billion by 2034. This expansion represents an impressive compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 24.8%. In response to this accelerating digital transformation, Sika and Giatec are combining their expertise to provide customers with advanced concrete intelligence, real-time monitoring capabilities, and actionable data insights.
As part of the partnership, Sika will integrate Giatec’s range of digital solutions—including sensors, specialized software platforms, and AI-driven analytics tools—into its global product portfolio. With Sika’s extensive sales and distribution network spanning more than 100 countries, customers will be able to access these cutting-edge technologies more easily. The combined offering aims to help producers improve operational efficiency and deliver higher-quality concrete in increasingly demanding construction environments.
Concrete manufacturers often face significant challenges related to fluctuations in raw material quality and limited visibility over the concrete once it leaves the production plant. These issues frequently result in the overdesign of concrete mixes, leading to unnecessary cement usage and higher costs. By integrating Giatec’s AI-based quality control and mix optimization technologies with Sika’s advanced chemical admixtures, producers can more precisely determine the ideal proportions of cement, aggregates, and other materials.
Another important advantage of the collaboration is the ability to monitor concrete during transportation. Giatec’s in-transit monitoring solutions provide real-time data on concrete conditions while it is being delivered to construction sites. This level of visibility allows producers and contractors to make informed adjustments and ensure that the material arrives in optimal condition. As a result, the technology can significantly improve project efficiency, minimize waste, and reduce CO2 emissions associated with excess cement usage.
Ivo Schädler, Head Construction at Sika, emphasized that the company is committed to becoming a digital leader across the entire construction value chain. He noted that the agreement builds upon Sika’s previous strategic investment in Giatec and represents another step toward accelerating digital transformation in the global concrete industry. By combining advanced digital technologies with deep expertise in construction materials, the partnership aims to deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, performance, and sustainability for customers worldwide.
Pouria Ghods, CEO and Co-founder of Giatec, highlighted that the collaboration will enable the company to scale its digital concrete technologies on a global level. He explained that by working together with Sika, the companies can empower concrete producers to make more informed, data-driven decisions that enhance productivity, reduce environmental impact, and achieve consistent performance improvements.
