This move aims to enhance competitiveness, expand the product portfolio for the Andean market, and reinforce the company's commitment to sustainable production practices.

Peróxidos do Brasil, a prominent joint venture formed by the global chemical leader Solvay and Produtos Químicos Makay (PQM), has officially announced a substantial strategic investment totaling $12 million in its production unit located in Coronel, Chile. This significant financial commitment underscores the company’s dedication to ensuring supply excellence and meeting the evolving demands of customers across diverse markets throughout South America. The facility, strategically situated within the Coronel Industrial Park in the BioBío region, holds a unique and crucial position as the sole industrial unit for hydrogen peroxide production along the entire Pacific Coast of the continent.

The allocated $12 million will be channeled towards the installation of a new section within the existing plant. This expansion is designed to dramatically increase the operational competitiveness of the unit by enabling a broader portfolio of hydrogen peroxide products to be manufactured on-site. This enhanced product range will specifically cater to and serve all segments of the vibrant Andean market, ensuring localized and efficient supply. Beyond mere market expansion, this strategic initiative deeply embeds Peróxidos do Brasil's unwavering commitment to sustainability. The technological upgrades facilitated by this investment are expected to contribute significantly to the progressive reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions within the production process, aligning with global environmental goals and responsible industrial practices. With all necessary permitting fully completed and officially approved, construction is slated to commence in the second half of the current year, with the ambitious goal of finalization by 2026.

Guilherme Silva, CEO of Peróxidos do Brasil, emphasized the long-term vision behind this strategic move. "This investment in the Coronel plant reflects Peróxidos’ continuous and long-term commitment to bringing more innovative, sustainable and competitive solutions to the South American market and our mission to remain the preferred partner for our customers," stated Silva. His comments highlight the company's dedication to fostering enduring partnerships and consistently delivering high-quality, environmentally conscious solutions to its client base in the region.

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), recognized for its exceptional versatility and powerful oxidizing properties, serves as an indispensable input across a wide spectrum of industrial applications. It is an essential component for key sectors such as pulp and paper, a critical industry in the region; aquaculture, where it plays a role in maintaining healthy aquatic environments; electronics manufacturing; food packaging, ensuring hygiene and safety; and particularly in the mining sector, where it is used for various processes including mineral extraction and wastewater treatment.
