The market prices of Psyllium husk in the Indian market has moved higher through January ****. The increase in the market value of Psyllium husk was the result of robust export restocking which has collided with the tight upstream supply. The early January saw unbroken procurement interest from the overseas nutraceutical and bakery formulators that were preparing for the spring product launches. The mid-month decisions by the Psyllium husk processors to prioritise higher-purity material for EU/US food-safety protocols has further trimmed the throughput. The inward flows of psyllium seed were below peak-season norms and harvested volumes were released gradually throughout the January which supported the firm quotation by the sellers. The logistics were orderly late in the month, so export loadings were not impeded. The Psyllium husk market dynamics were focused more on availability and quality compliance rather than the freight disruption.
