Syensqo Launches White Radel: A New Benchmark in Medical-Grade PPSU

Syensqo, a global leader in high-performance materials and chemical solutions, has unveiled White Radel®, the latest addition to its Radel® polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) product line. Designed for biopharmaceutical systems, surgical instruments and medical devices, this new grade delivers a significantly whiter appearance than traditional medical-grade Radel® PPSU compounds.

Radel® PPSU has reshaped the medical sector by offering an effective alternative to metals, thanks to its excellent strength-to-weight ratio. This characteristic enhances the ergonomics of medical instruments, improving handling and performance for healthcare professionals. The material meets the industry’s most rigorous safety and quality standards, including ISO 10993 for biocompatibility and USP Class VI certification.

The newly launched White Radel® offers the same robust performance characteristics as other Radel® grades, with added visual appeal. The product features high impact resistance in line with ASTM D6394-21a and is ideal for medical device applications that demand both durability and a clean, white appearance. It also maintains excellent stability during sterilization processes such as gamma irradiation and autoclaving, and offers strong resistance to aggressive disinfectants. Free of bisphenol-A (BPA), White Radel® provides a safer alternative to other white polymers used in medical applications.

Radel®’s design flexibility and processability have made it a preferred choice for manufacturers seeking to reduce production costs and streamline part integration. White Radel® is particularly suited for injection molding due to its high-flow characteristics. Other variants offer excellent melt strength for extrusion and ease of machining for semi-finished parts. Radel® is also available as filament for 3D printing, enabling rapid prototyping and low-volume production.
